RBP7 [SPOILERS] - The Chronicles of Nyania

nabaxo Wrote:We might actually be able to snipe it with a 2-move chariot...
I doubt it... it's still 10 turns before we can get our first Chariot over there even if we rush it straight over. Ten turns is a lot of time for things to change; the capital could easily be heavily reinforced by then. I think we'll need a more substantial number to make an impact - though of course it'd be nice if we didn't. smile

Let's try to keep that scout alive for as long as possible.

Indeed... he's giving us some pretty valuable information over there, so we'll definitely be careful with him. smile

Nyan City has reached size 5. The borders there will expand in 3 turns.

We could potentially switch to Slavery and whip, but I've tested it and it won't actually speed up any of our builds (factoring in the turn of anarchy) for at least 15 turns. Plus it will leave us in a worse position when we start to build another Settler for the Gold to the west. So think I'll hold off there for the moment.

Might switch from working the Rice to a plains-forest soon if we're not going for Slavery. Bear in mind we'll have an extra happiness from the Gold to the south before too long.

We're actually first (equal) in something for once... production. Of course, we're still pretty much dead last in food and commerce. lol

No need to grow then before the gold. Switch over to pure production and skip slavery for now then.

Fair point. Won't actually make a difference to the arrival times of any units, but I'll do it anyway. wink

Gold online at last. Research slightly improved... we're now not quite at the bottom of the list in GNP. tongue

Looks like we've encountered Plako's borders down to the south-east... I can see orange.

Also, what's with all these walls of peaks all over the place? I guess it's a rocky map type... but it sure doesn't seem it around our land. Ah well, I suppose I'm just a bit jealous of other civs that get natural barriers blocking other civs and barbarians from attacking them in certain directions. wink

Sure we've got coast, but that won't keep us safe for long once nations start taking to the seas. By contrast peak walls provide guaranteed protection until the age of Paratroopers. Never mind... I guess at least the absence of them around us means we've got easy access to Googly's land. That might be a plus, assuming we can actually emerge victorious there despite the setbacks of our slow start.

Well, bad news and interesting news this turn.

The bad news is that TT has already hooked up his Copper and will have Hunting next turn. So much for that hope. I'm still bemused as to why he suddenly made an about-face in the middle of (apparently) totally different/awful plans to switch to considerably more intelligent play. His decisions seem to be wildly unpredictable.

The interesting news is that ASM has apparently gone well out of his way to awkwardly settle the awesome spot immediately west of Googly. At least, his borders signify a city somewhere in that vicinity. I imagine that's sure to provoke some battles between them.

Hmm, we could use some cottages before too long. Might add Pottery to the research queue. So we currently have:

Mysticism -> Fishing -> Sailing -> Pottery

With TT having access to Copper now, we might want to consider exactly when we want to slot in another Settler. We may not be able to succeed with a rush, but we should at least be able to claim the Gold spot to the west if TT and ASM are going to be busy fighting one another. Perhaps best to play it by ear; we certainly want a few more Chariots yet either way.

I agree with the play by ear part. I say stick with the plan for now and hope that Googly only build axes.
