RBP7 [SPOILERS] - The Chronicles of Nyania

Well, Plako's Archer killed our Scout. frown

Farewell, Sonic Boom. You served us well.

At least he did 30% damage to the Archer on his way out. Small comfort though.

The more interesting news this turn is that HitAnyKey got the Great Wall - as you can see in the above screenshot. Guess the barbarians were really bothering him or something? That'll mean more barbarians will get funnelled into us from now on, of course... oh well, I suppose it could be worse.

Looks like he did a 2-pop whip last turn, so that might have been related. Hmm, I wonder if he has Stone down there? Guess we'll find out in time.

Our fourth Worker is almost done now; a Settler for the third city will come next. At this point we'll almost certainly found the third city over by the Gold and Wheat to the west. Seems to be the only logical spot around, and it should be fairly safe as long as we're capable of defending it.

After the Settler, we'll probably build a fifth Worker - or maybe a Galley. Would be good to get another Settler over to that island up north sometime soon, if only for "insurance" purposes. We may well need it. lol

The rest of the forests around the capital will be chopped shortly, to speed up the next few builds as much as possible. Once Sailing comes in we'll head for Pottery, which will enable us to (finally) start building cottages on those few river tiles we have. That should help us to start piecing together something vaguely resembling an economy. tongue

Can we have some screenshots of the positioning of those non-existing chariots? ;D

Hmm... snapping pictures of invisible units? Seems like a tough task. But I'll give it a shot when I next get a chance to log in. smile

Invasion time! :duel:

TT whipped his capital this turn, presumably producing a Spearman. An Archer is also possible, though less likely (he got Archery last turn).

The first goal is to de-fang Googly by disconnecting their Copper. This will apparently be far easier than I anticipated: they have only a single Warrior in their Copper city. That's right, one Warrior. Needless to say, this is not sufficient defence for such a critical city. lol

The main question right now (i.e. within the next 2 hours) is: do we keep Brady or raze it? On the one hand there's the only Copper on the map remotely within our grasp. On the other hand, despite not being able to produce any new metal units, TT will still have any he previously produced, and he now has Archery as well. Whether or not we can hold it depends pretty much on how many (and which) metal units he produced before this turn. Remember it's been 10 turns since he hooked up Copper, and 9 turns since he got Hunting. The power graph is above.

Thoughts? I could go either way at the moment.

Attacked with 78.3% odds and won (albeit with more damage than expected). Brady fell, and we gained a free Worker. Nice! And TT no longer has access to Copper.

Based on the power graph and the new visibility, I decided to keep the city. I don't think TT can have more than 2-3 metal units in total, and I'm guessing that 1-2 are probably Axemen. Hopefully I won't be proved wrong.

Since we're keeping it, I changed the city name to "Aybabtu". Perhaps a little ambitious, but I thought it seemed appropriate. tongue

Over at TT's capital, I almost can't believe what I'm seeing.

Yes, TT did indeed whip a Spear - but he has NOTHING else there. In other words, before the whip, that city must have been completely empty... and for who knows how long. I guess he must have concentrated his limited army all over in the west with ASM? Apparently he never considered that there was any danger to his east... which is bizarre. Is he unfamiliar with the concept of dogpiling? What was he thinking? huh

Anyway, we can't take the capital right now with the Spear there, but at least we've got the Copper city. And if worst comes to worst (3 Spears?!), we can always abandon the city and pillage the Copper. We still will have netted a Worker and denied him the metal, so it still will have been a beneficial transaction for us. Hopefully it won't come to that though. smile
