And just like I'm cool with him lying (in this kind of game), I'm pretty cool with this response of yours too.
this is shaping up to be a fantastic battle! i shall definitely be keeping tabs on this thread.
if you do not mind me asking, which i really hope you dont, what is soecially accepted protocol in regards to making deals? in some games, i can see some people have broken them and there was quite an uproar. in others, it seems to just go away. since im new, id rather not upset anyone and just go with whatever has already been accepted by the majority.

Most games take deals pretty seriously, and breaking one reflects pretty badly on you for future games. This game is a bit unusual in that it *seems* to me that players are encouraged to be slightly more devious than is generally accepted.

Oh my, I have visitors in my thread! I should really clean up around here
plako Wrote:Primarily this is Always war game. No one should feel guilty about killing someone elses units or eating their word. It is part of the format. Please note that Sevenspirits is very clever. There is a decent chance his remorse is just a ploy to get Xenu lower his defenses.
I'm new to playing at RB and to MP Civ as well, but I've lurked here for about a year now, long enough to know that this community has tendencies toward honorable game play, certainly more than I've seen elsewhere. I know this is an AW game and as a rookie to the format in MP the diplomacy will play out differently from a normal RB diplo game. Even so, it just needles me to be lied to, whether that's in the spirit of this particular game or not. I'm not going to hold a grudge against Mackoti or Seven, I'm sure they're both good guys, but this incident has helped to form my foreign policy for now in this particular game.
They should have paid attention, though, because for some time I've been the only civ with a power rating higher than theirs. And the only reason I built up like that is because they have not proven to be very peaceful in the early going. I'm a builder at heart, not sure what I was thinking of signing up for an AW game! I think I got lured in by the casual atmosphere, which is why I'm not being too serious about my decision making. If I was, no way I'd go out to rush my new neighbor when they've already cleared out so much land between us. To be continued

T53 - After I ended turn for T52 the turn rolled to T53 as I was last to play. I moved my settler before realizing I was beginning to double move and didn't move anything else. This will have no bearing on anything as the settler is still within my borders and no one can attack it in any case, but I still double-moved. Oops. After moving the settler one of the workers finished a chop which went onto a granary that was already going to finish in one turn. This leads to the following city box:
I don't think I'm going to lose overflow hammers since after the hammers it takes to build the granary will turn to base hammers, but as I haven't ended this turn if anyone sees that I am losing hammers please let me know.
The plan for now is to send this settler to the horses city site, settle it, pasture the horses, and begin building as many war chariots as I can. I'm 5 turns from finishing Hunting so I can begin chopping out spears. I'm afraid I've waited too long to begin this attack, since now MackSeven have 4 cities (a settler from each of their capitals I assume). They'll have the capacity for emergency whips, so probably the best I can do at this point is raze their cities in Azza's empire. Then I'll have to deal with their fury for the rest of the game and we know how that will work out! (protip: not good for me!)
Edit: I need to remember to switch to Slavery while this settler is on the way. Not this turn, I'd like the granary to finish first when I end turn. But the settler will still be moving next turn so that would be the time to make the switch. As Mic is at the happy cap, I need to start whipping away my population into more attack units.

You can only overflow the base hammers it takes to finish that particular build. In this case you'll get 20h carried over to whatever.

Is anyone around? I haven't received a response on a request for a ded-lurker/teammate/replacement. I'd like to prevent holding up the game because on weekends I am going to be decidedly unavailable to play these turns, being out of town house hunting. In my PBEM game my ded-lurker is handling the weekend turns but he can't sub for me here, since he can't connect to a pitboss server from his campus network.
If no one wants to play Mao of Native America, though, I totally understand.

I'd be happy to sub, but I made the map... maybe bump the sub player thread in the player thread, and post a warning in the public diplo thread (other players can help find someone too)

Of our listed subs for this game, Elkad has already taken over for Catwalk and Dazed posted previously that he wasn't available (and I think he's in PB5 now too).
I think I should post this opening on Monster.com while I'm doing my job search. WANTED: Civ IV pitboss turn player, no previous experience required but highly recommended. The position requires:
- attention to detail, such as monitoring neighbor power graphs for spikes;
- analytic skills to review incoming data and interpret results, such as guessing at the composition of incoming enemy forces;
- planning skills to prepare for inbound stacks of doom and develop effective countermeasures (emphasis on effective highly preferred)
- coping skills for when your best laid plans go to waste and mackoti steamrolls you anyway.
If you believe your skill set matches these requirements please PM spacetyrantxenu or post in this thread. No certification or clearances are required for this position.
Physical requirements are:
- to be able to sit or stand for potentially minutes at the time in the short run, up to half an hour or more eventually if you survive the probationary period - this is turn playing and planning (25% of hours) ;
- the ability to facepalm when your best plans blow up in your face (50% of hours)
- the ability to gloat publicly at every success (~1% of hours)
- other duties as assigned -- check the public diplo thread once you've been effectively vassalized or conquered for these further duties (24% of hours)
There is no need to discuss pay or compensation, there isn't any. This position is an internship at the Civilization School of Hard Knocks, formerly known as Mao's Casino. School starts whenever Mack/Seven and/or Plako say so. They'll let you know by rolling armies into your territory.
Thank you for your consideration.

Try posting onto CFC. That's how Kyan recruited Oledavy.
