Return of the Horde: Temujin of Rome

WK, make sure you let me play India's turn before you end turn. India can polish off rifling, allowing you to draft rifles instead of muskets.

Was going to ask you to do the same thing. wink

WK, can you end my turn after yours (and also after Dave's...he has more monasteries so we want him to end turn before me)?

The two things that would need doing are:

*Select a tech (since Dave will finish SM).

*If you get a great prophet, switch Wee-Bey (the holy city) over to a grocer. If not, it can stay on its rifle build.

Thanks!

@WK, logged in as Rome and updated all the enemy unit signs. I also posted some suggestions for unit deployments along the western front. Main point was that the siege should go in the cities with units playing zone defense, not the other way around. Ultimately your call though, dispense with my suggestions as you see fit.

First ironclad appeared in Parley.

Here's hoping we get that Great Prophet thumbsup

Don't have enough time to finish anyone else's turn now unfortunately, so dave if you see this before I do you should play and finish everyone's turn.

Turns out we got an Engineer, not the Prophet we were looking for sadly, but at least we can put him to better use then a Merchant.

Took 4 50-50 shots at sunrise's Frigates with a bunch of my own. Went 2-2, which is at least fair enough (although sunrise will probably be able to kill one or both next turn). Attacked mostly because with ironclads on the corner they'll b e obsolete soon enough, and any XP is good enough for me.

IW is done, although I'm starving due to health. Need to quickly get an aquaduct up before starting Kremlin. Otherwise the most interesting thing is that I've stared moving units up to Shoot.

While I understand your reasoning for this attack, I really don't think it was a good move. A four to two exchange was not a smart exchange imho. While it's not worth building any more frigates in your cramped waters, they're still useful warships. Those frigates were pretty much wasted, giving you and Sunrise equal xp towards your GGs - but worse, probably allowing Sunrise to promote his ships. It would have been better to wait until you outnumbered him, or until you can deploy ironclads on the field of battle to even the odds.

At any rate, it's in the past, so not much to be done. I just wouldn't recommend taking battles like that in the future - we can't afford to waste units like that.

Attacking units get more xp then defending units do. Promoted Frigates aren't much of a concern since Ironclads or maybe even Destroyers soon enough will have odds on them regardless. Granted, sunrise does have a shot at counterattacking which probably isn't great but I don't think it was that bad. I don't plan to repeat it though.

What do the garrisons of your border cities with Speakerise look like, and can you spare any more troops?

Btw, if you still have spare praets running around, they'd be good for this invasion too. At strength eight, they're still useful for absorbing hits and scratching enemy units so higher strength ones can kill them. And they're cheap jive

Here's what I got defending:

I don't think I can spare any more units from this front without risking a sneak attack. I am trying to draft most of my cities before I switch back to bureau though.

I only have 3 preats left, one is doing sentry down south while the other two are en route.

Better update next turn when I start my GA and switch into bureau/SP.
