RBP6 Lurker Thread

Thing is, if Sullla had posted what he posted about Cultural Victories on turn 1 of the game it wouldn't be considered terrible for a lurker to step in and correct him. The fact that the situation has arisen at a crucial point in the game changes the decision since they are now very alert to the possibility of CV and a clarification at this point will be seen as confirmation of Team 2 being close to victory.

Is Lewwyn's attack a shrewd move or missing the bigger picture? Why not just wait for that stack to move into their culture?

wondering the same thing about Team2 - I think allowing deviations to the turtling plan are good if a target of opportunity walks by, but that seems like a pretty powerful stack he's messing with.

At this point though, if the attack buys a few turns of time, it would be worth it. Do you think his attacking units would buy more turns attacking or buy more time sitting at home defending?

if the 45gpt he references could possibly shave a turn off of the win, that would make some sense too.

I think the logic is that Lewwyn has nothing that can get odds on cannons and no way to flank them or cause them collateral. If he can attack a big stack of hitters that only has 6-7 cannon he can not waste too many units doubling up on the cannons, and then have odds on all of the collateralled hitters.

It's a better exchange then trying to hit them when they have 15-20 cannons in a stack, and will delay them. He doesn't need to hold out that much longer.

This gives us seven turns to take the city, with a little elbow room if my estimate is off. Iirc, launching the invasion on this turn will allow us to assault Beijing on t192.

It was hard to tell , but it looked like from T2's thread that they were on pace to win on T192 (or maybe T193).

Oh my this is going to be so close...
I suppose that the fact that Team2 is probably going to throw the kitchen sink at any incoming Team3 mega-stack is going to critically delay a possible Beijing capture date?
I'm so excited for this game! jive

I expect as it becomes more and more apparent what team 2 is up to, that team 1 will take harder look at the mechanic and accelerate their attack.

My worst nightmare is that they win when we're one turn away from taking Beijing, and I'm concerned that with every turn we delay, they get stronger and closer to their goal.

Based on davy's and ASM's numbers (assuming all goes according to his plan) this is what would happen. Crazy game!

Hopefully it comes down to the wire for entertainment purposes, but davy already mentioned stepping up the pace if possible. Additionally, T1 talked about moving in over the next 10 turns. While T1 probably can't reach Beijing in time (or would even hustle over there anyway) it could easily prompt T3 to move in earlier than planned so as not to miss out on the spoils.

Even if they do get Beijing, though, it's going to be interesting I think. T1 will want to claim as much of Lewwyn's lands as possible and will probably be quite aggressive about it. T1 and T3 will be fighting in Lewwyn's lands while T3 needs to race to Milkshake or Istanbul before those cities can make up the culture lost from the fall of Beijing...

But isn't it already apparent for anyone what they are trying to do? Sullla believes he has tested the game mechanic and that Team2 will get a very disappointing surprise when it doesn't work.
I think that if anything would prompt him to further investigate if wouldn't be any in game numbers (as he already believes Team2 will fail) but rather the flurry of activity brought on by anticipation and excitement in the lurkers thread.

However which way this turns out, I'm bringing out the popcorn.
