[SPOILERS] The Hall of Stones

I'm definitely reading. Just don't have a lot to say most of the time. Especially things that can't be spoilers.

Although, now that I think about it - are you going to stick with Ithralia as a name?

kjn Wrote:Oh, we read. You know that the happiness boost is only temporary (10 turns on normal, no idea on quick)? I usually take the monument, since it's a free building and there are events tied to having a monument.

Well, my city could grow in the same turn. (And now i have the longest city again)

So 1 more tile to work. The event on quick gives me 20 turns. In 20 turns I will have hooked up quite some happiness resources.

The Monument leads to a border pop in 42 turns... If it would have made the marble available in like 20 turns I would have taken the monument and could have planted my 3rd city on another spot. So the monument gives me what? Better defense... Not worth it!

25 Gold would allow me to run 100% tech for a few turns. In about 5 turns I'll have one cottage more instead.

Hmm, maybe I imagined a more vital exchange of ideas between lurkers and myself. But that was probably a unfounded expectation.

The idea was a Disc World Novel Golem naming theme, I'll look up some other city names in the Disc World Novels. Renaming will follow. Got a little sloppy there.

Global lurkers aren't allowed to help with strategy, just answer questions about game mechanics. Which you don't seem confused about anyway.

If you can find a dedicated lurker - that's the role you're looking for, someone to weigh in on anything and everything. It might be a challenge to do that now that the game's going, though.

TURN 42-43

Big turn.

As you can see both mines finished. The endresult is I can produce 16 Hammers per turn in Ankh and the Monument in Pseudopolis will be finished in (7) 8 turns.

My warrior survived the onslaught as expected of him. For fulfilling his duty he will be Promoted during his next combat mission in the East.

And Sergeant Stronginthearm invested the above mentioned Unique Feature and found Bradeline's Well...

Note the defender. Maybe there's a defender sitting on the PoT as well, which would make the idea with popping CoS and going for DC's questionable, if Cromagnumpi even had that idea.

Also: What does Bradeline's Well do? Cause I found nothing about it.

It's an explorable lair, with amplified results. Just about any result that comes from exploring it is big, either really good like a free great person, or really bad like a bunch of mistforms and ogres and such.

To my knowledge, it does nothing else.

Worth sacrificing 1 wood golem for it, I guess.

Btw. I'll not build two scouts (even though I could) but put my turn in my 2nd settler. Me no like Demographics protest

Dedicated Lurkers (ie a semi team-mate who only follows your game thread) can offer unlimited advice. Global Lurkers can't comment on ingame details other than game mechanics questions or helping out with fun stuff like thread spam. wink

Terry Pratchett FTW!

Bah. Mardoc already beat me to most of that.... :neenernee

Best time/place to recruit ded lurkers is the setup thread before the game gets started and people begin reading the spoiler threads. If you do want a ded lurker, it might not be too late. You could try advertising in the Civ General Forum. Although given that this is supposed to be a "rookies" game many of the FFH regulars can't sign on as ded lurkers.

Well I like my decisions questioned, it helps me thinking and find good solutions.

Also I like to learn, so feel free to critique my decisions after I made them so I can do better next time.

I don't really want a teammate.

TURN 50
Demographics
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0015.jpg]

Not that good, well my 2nd city will start to produce a lot more in a few rounds and 3rd city is on it's way.
Techwise who followed me already knows but here it goes again: Masonry -> Construction.
Also I lost 3 scouts so far and got 5 warriors. I need to explore NW. Still a chance Hippus are there.
Strategy: get Barnaxus train him, go for religion, go for Gargoyles.

EDIT:
City productivity:

Oo A Boar ate my TWO warriors with promos on hill etc. well bad luck, he'll eat Tebryns Scout next turn, last free warrior is on it's way. Settler finished, but I really need to get some warriors out soon. I hope I can run it this light for the next 4 turns, I got 3 Mud Golems then and 3 cities, thats fine. My demographics should climb over the next 20 turns. I think I'll take the risk to wait for border pops to reach marble since building the actual GL takes the least of time, if I guess correctly I should get the border pop just when I need it.
