Since Ellimist is, like, totally slacking on the update I am apparently forcing him to write, I now present a brief summary of the last few turns:

Here at Ether Industries, we believe that the best plan is an incomprehensible doctrine prone to sudden, violent shifts!

That's why our current Strategy reads about as follows:

Having looked at the obscene costs for the mini-towers and wept for a bit, it was decided that Ellimist ought to build them instead of me, since he has lots of hills and some workshops and most importantly of all Godking. Since we (Ellimist) tested & found that whoever builds the Tower of Mastery must own every minor tower as well, Ellmist will have to do all the dirty work.

For my part, I will be saving gold for the next four turns while Ellimist pumps out his 1-turn Paladins. Then I will gift him all of the Alteration manas and he will finish that tower, probably with the assistance of a generous cash-infusion from the Ljosfar.

I can actually tech to an extent even when running 100% gold, thanks to specialists, so I will be researching the Beastmasters tech while this goes on. Subdue Beast Beastmasters behind city walls ought to be able to thwart any werewolf attack, plus Heralds are just badass units.

Popping Feudalism means that after Animal Mastery we'll probably go Stirrups + Warhorses, with the latter tech presumably finishing about when Ellimist starts construction on the Big Win Tower.

Also, it's great to see that I beat Mist in VIII as being the first person to summon Basium on RB by about a week- was worried for a while that I might lose the race (such as it was) =)

Also also, I should note that one strategy I have considered is just turning every node to Air and throwing strength 12 tigers at Mardoc- the issue here is that, while a stack of 40 PoL summoning tigers who pass a +8 strength Rod of Winds between them will hit like a freight train, only one PoL per turn will defend worth anything in the field. Ellimist still thinks this is a viable defense strategy, so we'll see how things shake out as the end-game progresses.

Once we're done building all 4 of the lesser towers, it would be a great defense.

The only problem is if Mardoc has subdue animal on his unit and captures our Rod of Winds tiger...

Assorted thoughts...

If you can spare some PoL for it, let's bloom the rest of the bloomable tiles in my culture. It should reduce the mobility of any attacking units, giving us more time to react. With sever soul, they'll be able to move in pretty quickly, but this should buy us some time.

Should I try to save up 3 great people for two tower-accelerating golden ages?

Are we still thinking I'll be adopting OO? Undercouncil, Hemah, and Druids would be nice. We'd both get the benefits of any undercouncil resolutions.

Remind me to check the numbers on how long it will take to get towers.

If we have time for you to slot it in. You are going to be busy with minitowers for at least the next dozen turns.

Thankfully, the sage means you won't have to bite two turns of anarchy to go to OO + replacement civic for GoN. But druids, one of the main reasons for OO, are still several turns away.

As noted in chat, the minitower order should be Alteration -> Necromancy -> Divination, and then at that point I can work on my own Div tower while you simultaneously commence construction on your Tower of the Elements.
