Hey, we had someone logging in with a misleading name last turn. (Specifically, someone logging in with the name of someone else in the game.) I don't think we've ever specifically banned this but I do believe there's been tacit understanding that it's not permitted. In any case I think we should agree to not do it.
I brought this up in the public thread but it was taken as a personal attack, so I thought it would be better discussed here.

Spacetyrantxenu, sorry for misinterpreting and misrepresenting you. Please forgive me.
I really was just trying to be generous in my interpretation of events. I thought, it's easy to misinterpret a somewhat critical post in the public thread (which is supposed to be in-game communication) as an attack and respond in kind, and there's nothing wrong with that. And I realized my mistake and brought it here instead.
I'd appreciate it if you didn't insult me outside of the game. And I consider rules discussions to be outside the game. I will try for the same, and like I said I'm very sorry for bothering you.

I hope we don't need to start legistlating in-game names. This joke has been now used and hopefully no one feels it needs to be re-used. In the future, if you feel urge to use silly names at least avoid the ones others are using regularily

This is an outrage, are you reading my thread?  (Don't get wound up with that one, it's a joke too). Look, I know I'm a jerk (this is true in RL, too) but I've been on fair behavior...I haven't hit the submit button for any posts that I've written that went really out of bounds. I judiciously use the preview post button. So where have I specifically insulted you? I've criticized actions, inside the game and outside, but I'm trying to be careful not to say (for instance) YOU ARE SILLY, I've instead said THIS IS SILLY. I try to differentiate a person from an action. But whatever, this isn't a tech issue and doesn't belong here. It also isn't a diplo issue so it doesn't really belong there either unless you just want to continue this discussion for some reason. I don't see any value in it, though.

FYI all, antisocialmunky asked that I ban him from the Pitboss 7 subforum. I've done so (and in the process learned that banning a user from a particular subforum is pretty easy to do.  )
