[Spoilers!] Dave Versus Financial

Here is what has happened on late:

Mackoti got his first GS from the Great Library. rant

Kudos to him for denying it to the philosophical civs. I wonder if he found and settled for marble first. The other thing of note is that Sian adopted Bureacracy.

As you can see from the tech screen, he went Civil Service first while Shoot & Nakor curiously went music first.

So, here's what we're working with of late:

I have three cities settled, with a fourth settler that completed EOT. I'm currently in Bureacracy and Caste System, which I used to pop the borders of the new city of Mason a few turns ago.

I already have two of the cities food resources improved off the bat. Right now, I'm growing it on a warrior while chopping a forest. Idk what I will sink it into yet though.

Pindicator IV is unhappy:

Next turn, it gets the wheat back from Gryphon to finish the worker a turn faster.

Gryphon:

I haven't decided where to use this settler yet, which is rather bad for this late hour. I could settle in the north to claim marble.

If it's mirrored, I would need to settle on the sugar to grab it. Alternatively, I could settle either one of the sites to the west of me.

Would love to hear what you guys have to say.

I was able to kill StN's scout with my HA, which took an inordinate amount of damage and is headed back into my territory to heal and serve as an MP. The second is noving northeast to check out the area and make Shoot the Nakor nervous.

Here's the depressing bit:

The demos do not look promising at this point - the effects of mailing in the save for a month and not optimizing at this crucial stage of the game. Let's see if we can't turn that around.

So right now, our focus needs to be on rapid expansion and reaching our tech targets in time to stomp Sian. To that end, we need to figure out:

A. Where and what order to settle cities in.
B. Where to utilize the GA bomb.

Hopefully not too late to win this thing hammer

End Turn.

I don't think it is, but you'll need to take large chunks out of an opponent to do it. Use all the tools at your disposal (including the artist) and kill someone. The trouble is doing it quick in a way that Mackoti doesn't gain from.

Who has graphs on you?

I don't think we can afford wonders at this point. Typically they go to whoever's ahead - we probably can't actually win wonder races now, and even if we can, we probably have to give up too much to get them. Therefore I'd argue against spending effort for marble. Take the better sites instead. We can always conquer the wonders with Conquistadors later wink.

I think the iron site is stronger (and the extra happy doesn't hurt), but logistically we probably should grab the fish/wheat first.

It's not quite as bad as it looks, because you haven't really been able to exploit Philosophical to the full extent yet. And you're getting your culture from temporary artists, not buildings or religion. Not that I'd mind you stepping it up a bit lol

I thought the depressing bit was that of your list of 3 "famously razed cities", 2 of them are mine frown lol

You edited your sig to reflect the end of PBEM31, but this thread's on a street corner begging for updates.

How engaged are you in this game anymore? Have you used the artist yet?

I'm semi-engaged in this game. This semester has turned out to be a lot busier than I expected, and the foregone conclusion of PB6 has consumed most of my available civving time - trying not to let the team down and do my damndest to make that game competitive. That being said, I haven't updated here in a couple days because only a single turn has passed frown

I accidentally pulled the old play and forget to send over the weekend smoke At the moment, Sian is sitting on the save. I expect to have it arrive in my inbox any minute now. There will be an update here tomorrow.

Yeah.....

I'm not going to continue fooling myself that I'll start consistently updating this thread. I just wanted to take a minute to apologize to my ded-lurkers, Nic, Mardoc and Ceiliiazul. Sorry for letting you guys down frown I was really flattered to attract a single ded-lurker, let alone three, and I'm really sorry I didn't live up to your expectations.

A combination of factors has ensured I just don't have nearly as much free time right now as I did earlier in the year. I have a lot more things in real like pulling at my time than I did in January. In the time I do devote to civ, Pitboss 6 and PBEM1 consume the majority of my effort - they're just more interesting and fun games to me at this point. I made the mistake of over-committing myself, and this game is the one that has suffered. I know it's kinda a shitty attitude since I was the one to propose this game's concept, but I really don't know what else to say. At any rate, I've let this game go to seed, and have pretty much just been mailing the last couple dozen turns or so in. At any rate, I will continue playing this game out if need be, but I feel like that doesn't do much justice to Nakor, Mackoti or Pindicator, so I will begin looking for a sub.

I'd like to open the floor to you three first, since you're all the most familiar with the situation. I'll be honest, I haven't been playing my A game here and it shows. While the game is far from unwinnable, the situation is not extremely favorable.

Anyone feel crazy enough to take that on?

Your excellent reporting in PB6 is a great salve, no apologies needed. At least can we get a screenshot of the empire with the scoreboard? When we last left off (and I'm still unspoiled) it was "Mackoti and the Three Stooges", is that still the case?

Ditto.

I'm a bit overcommitted myself, or I would have found the time for a comment sometime in the last month. It means I understand perfectly where you're coming from; I'm essentially doing the same in FFH PBEMX. But that means I definitely can't take on the main turnplayer role!

That said - when your schedule clears back up, I'll definitely watch your threads with interest!
