Epic 11, Michelangelo's report

Hi,

After missing some events after my first two adventures, due to happy RL-stuff (got married), I tried my hands on Epic 11 because it was on Prince and the setup was very appealing. I never played a game on epic before, but enjoyed it very much. Please have a look at my game, it's here

grats and best wishes and all of that stuff for getting married smile!

as far as your game .... very nicely done, and absolutely no culture slider at that, wow! i'm certainly not that brave wink.

the same exact civs died in my game as in yours. of course in my game some were my fault, and they weren't in yours, but we won't mention that since it might make me look mean *giggle*. the order of the scoreboard at the end is very different tho. toku was first place among the AIs in mine, and HC last for example, but not in yours. so funny how things work out!

"I had one hairy moment though. As you can see I only have 1 cavalry left at 2.8 health. Monty still has some units left, but doesn't continue the attack. So that got me wondering. Would he have taken the city when he beat that cavalry, or would Julius protect me? If anyone could clarify this, it would be good to know."

above that you said "I decide to bring in so others to prevent them from getting the wrong idea of attacking me. I enlist JC, GK and Peter for Astronomy and Military tradition." so i think that means Julius is at war with Monty too right? if he is, i think that if his troops stay in your cities, they defend it when monty tries to attack it. but i might be wrong. and even if i'm right, they might move before it's technically monty's turn! Monty is very weird. thankfully this often this works in our favor smile.

i do know (from harsh experience) that if you leave airplanes in a friendly civ's city to use on an anemy, and that enemy has OB and walks into that city, the troops in that city don't defend your planes because that civ isn't at war, they have OB. that's expensive and painful, and now i always send a guard beford i send the planes *giggle*.

Good writeup. This was certainly a game where most of us felt like they needed to build more of <insert everything here> before experiencing a surprising amount of Prince-AI militancy.

Good work to finish the game and get a good report up.

And congrats on the happy RL-stuff too!

Yes you're right, he is at war. It could be that IF JC stayed there, Monty couldn't get onto the square b/c he is at war with the units present. I might have a look through the saves to see if I have a save 1 turn before and remove 1 unit from the city. I'm not sure though if I have that one....

I noticed that the 20% didn't make much of a difference (I think in the end it was around 30-40 out of the 600+ culture I was making already), probably b/c I neglected the economy a bit. So I decided that if it makes so little difference (and I clearly wasn't going to be in for a fastest finish lol ), why not try the 0-culture slider approach.
