Ended turn for us. No tweaking done but I've seen we have moved the settler onto the spear. Unfortunately the axe is trailing behind and we have a skirm + spear incoming (next to the chariot). From the last turns movements that seems to indicate that he already moved this turn - and he is definitely last to end turn, so we should be able to get our chariot out of there. But that depends how you interpret the double-move rule I guess. If he believes that by moving his troops this turn already earlier, he is allowed to move them as soon as the turn rolls, then our chariot is definitely dead. Also our axes won't reach in time our settler if we are not playing the turn after next when it rolls. Otherwise he will kill it with Skirm + Spear pair (he should win against chariot + spear as skirm will attack spear [gets defensive bonuses so has higher defense] and if he wins that then spear goes against chariot).
So... um, maybe we'd better waited for the other troops to catch up. That was the reason I moved them there in the first place. But I guess I should have made some signs for that instead of assuming that I would play the turns anyway Sorry guys, hope that won't cost us the settler.

I think we'll be fine.
Let's hope you or Tatan is around when the turn ends... since I might be off to bed in a short while...

Tatan, thankfully you were around! Hope you're not missing to much sleep...
All units are safe so we can slowly proceed with our settling plan.
We got graphs on Mali and their power isn't that big as Sunrises.
We still need to adjust science and take a look at builds in Nero. I suggest another axe while growing back to size 5 and then the settler.

ANd then we're last to end turn and must wait 2 hours, although our units have already moved ages ago....
Here's the scenery:
Could we settle 1S of the current city sign?
We have a lone Chariot and next to it 2 spears, 1 axe and a settler.

Chariot made it, but Mali moved SE just as us. They can decide to move towards our lands. Thankfully we'll have 2 axes and a spear ready soon.
Here's my e-mail exchange with Serdoa:
Quote:Hey Nakor,
seems our chariot will be gone if we are unlucky. My fault, should have ended turn last turn when I logged in and saw that everything was moved already. I'll try to log in in 2 hours (or a little bit less, I'll try to check when exactly I am allowed too.
Anyhow, I think moves are obvious IF we want to settle our border city. Move the stack 1SE, next turn 1 NE. Don't attack, with all the defensive bonuses our odds are shit and we don't need to either. Axe in Caesar, probably followed by another axe. And the axe from the cap should head up to the new city as well I think. Chariots are worthless in that region, with all the hills and jungle. Need to get a worker, better 2 over there asap. Best would be 4 tbh, but we do not have those numbers. Maybe will let the cap produce another one next turn when we have grown. Can double pop whip it and overflow into another axe.
Oh, and definitely Archery after Monarchy. :D
Kind regards,
Serdoa
Quote:Btw: We probably should get a city east of the cap as well. Though that might piss of sunrise unfortunately. But it could work the rice all the time the cap doesn't need to (which is quite often). Take some of the hills and hey, you have another unit producer / cottage grower for the capital.
So we need more settlers, more military and better units.
Tech path: Monarchy - Archery - Feudalism - ?
We can turtle in on our mainland cities and hopefully settle more cities on the islands/coast.

Mali has another stack with 2 Skirms, 1 Spear, 1 Settler next to the corn. I don't know if they have moved this turn or not, if not, then they might very well settle before we can. And with our forces, we'll probably not be able to take them out.
Gah, it is frustrating to be so far behind just because you start with such bad land

Is there a site nearby we can safely settle?

No, they took the wheat, without it, all those sites are completely worthless. Well maybe, 1NW of where the stack is right now, to share the pig. Not sure. Caesar certainly doesn't need it all the time, I can work the two cottages, horses and water tiles.

Oh, and their city is defended by 3 skirms + 1spear. No way we take that anytime soon from them. We could probably throw like 8 axes against it and might still be short of taking it. I guess it was obvious before, but ignore my words in the diplo-thread. No reason to whip ourselves, they can easily produce more skirms then we can whip.
And why do we have to get the no.1 and no. 4 civ on our doorsteps? Isn't it enough that our land is utter crap? Well... of course, realistically thinking, all the good land we should have had has to be somewhere else. Seems it is not even that far away

Mackseven are a lot closer than I expected...
Anyway, I only moved a few units, as I wasn't certain about what a lot of them were doing. Sorry that I've kind of checked out on a lot of the details for this game.
