Kmad - You're chock full of useful info! When my workers had nothing to do at stretches in epic11, I had some of them mine hills outside of city radii just incase that would cause a pop. Thanks for saving me the bother (although I'll still do it on my borders for the pillaging delay!)

KMad Wrote:for the "popped another one", you have to be working the mine for it to happen. so mining hills outside your city cross won't get you one, and you won't get one on a turn that you've got all your citizens on high food tiles or being specialists or whatever. but that's all i know, i don't know what the odds are, but they sure do seem rare to me. that was 2 in a 482 turn long game, in the meantime i flipped 7 cities by culture. Thanks for the info, KMad! This explains why I haven't seen this at all -- I almost always go for heavy food production. More people, either for whipping or specialists, is my usual strategy, and it sounds like that discourages pops. KMad Wrote:i do sometimes mine hills outside my crosses tho, or build random improvements on the edges of my empire, when my workers are bored waiting on bio/railroad/state property whatever. even useless improvement makes the AI think "ooooooh must pillage!!!" and can buy you time. particularly helpful in OCCs. *giggle*. Heh. I've done this as well -- the AI units sure are distracted by anything shiny, aren't they? Or maybe they are all pyromaniacs. Still, it has saved me a number of times, including a couple in this game. Finally got the first part of my report up (score and summary, full report through ~1300 AD). Need to finish the rest tomorrow. This scenario was a blast.
Great read and ditto game.
Quote:except Monty declared on me. and he'd probably have declared even if the game had the "Always Peace" optionAfter reading a couple of reports, I think some of them fully agree to this observation Did you do any of the initial hindy spreading b.t.w. or were you just very lucky it spread THAT good. Apparently you aren't into warmongering but when forced to you strike with deadly precision and end up with.... 32 cities. That's what you get for overpreparing!!!! Maybe Sullla can cook up a nice gentle Always War-event, specially for you.
Hi,
Sullla Wrote:That's a great story right there. As much as I enjoy reading how experts like T-Hawk and Kylearan can work the scoring system for maximum points, I think I enjoy these kind of reports a little bit more.I actually have to agree here. KMad, that was a great report where the fun and excitement you had really shone through! One thing though: Maybe it's because English is not my first language, but it's a bit difficult for me sometimes to read your "stream of thougt"-style reports, especially when you ignore structural elements like punctuation, case and the like. That's a REALLY large empire you had in the end for such a game! And about being the queen of weed and finishing the latest: You've beaten my victory date easily... -Kylearan

Conf spread to alex first, so that was his initial religion . but then Hinduism spread to more and/or better Greek cities so he went Hindu on his own! i wanted Saladin to be Conf so that i could kill him while avoiding some "-1 you DoWd our friend!" modifiers (those are permanent). i sent the free Conf missionary to Mecca i think. Saladin went Conf first but he later changed to Hindu . i spent much of the war-prep time making Conf missionaries between other things to convert every one of his cities to Conf so that he'd convert to earn fewer "-1 you DoWd our friend"s (those are permanent). because Conf was in his capital, Hinduism didn't spread to it (where he was busy building the Pyramids and Chichen Itza for me), so i do not know why Saladin stuck with Hinduism. i was kind of concerned that part of his reason was that it was the most popular religion, but once Conf was in every city he did convert without me having to go Conf and bribe him. after that war i did spread Hinduism further when i had the time. pretty much for the gold and line of sight, because it seemed quite well locked in. i was a lucky girl. when i get around to it i'm gonna show you overprepared! KMad: What is your typing wpm (words-per-minute) rate? I'm pretty sure you can type faster than I can read.
Now, back to reading your insights in this and other threads; thank you for them! It is great to read about non-MilitaryMight strategic thinking. Her enthousiasm is so nice. ... just realised this report was written already a couple of weeks ago. Sorry for the bump. |
