Something really fishy happened this turn. Long story short, we need to attack as soon as possible. I started moving my musketeer swarm, and now, all but two are under Indian control. Unfortunately, the earliest they can reach the staging tile is t185. This would allow us to invade one turn earlier, (t186), and reach Beijing on t191. Not much of an improvement, but it'll have to do. I’ve re-deployed my workers to get my last couple knights into position a turn sooner. If there is any way to speed up the arrival of troops to the front, do it. If either of you have last minute unit whips planned, move them up a turn. If I’m right, Team #2 is going to win a culture victory within the next ten turns, and we need to move as rapidly as possible. It may already be too late to stop them.

I can pretty much confirm this given this move:

Yeah, they sacrificed a worker to scout our stack. Luckily said stack was maybe half of its eventual size, but still that must mean they are damn close. Also means they are going to start heavily heavily whipping now. banghead

Didn't notice that when I logged in earlier, oye......

Pity we didn't keep the stack further back from the border. Still, they were going to know what direction we would be coming from no matter what; and with our power levels spiking, they had to know an invasion was in the works. Lewwyn's advantage from this is that he now has a good idea of the composition. Still, with more than half of the stack still en route, it does him little good at this point.

Nonetheless, it is yet another good reason to accelerate our plans.

Why did he not delete that worker after scouting us?

However, I seriously doubt Lewwyn will be whipping. If my little prediction is accurate, he'll be revolting into Caste System within the next turn or two.

That's a damn good question.

The one good thing is at the time he scouted, the stack only had 2 or 3 MGs in it, so he may not be expecting quite enough of those.

Question for you guys: I attached the GG to my 7xp MG out of my HE city, and have an extra promo left over after getting to Drill IV. Any thoughts on what to use it for? The options are shock, +25% against armor, medic I, +100% combat experience, and +1 movement. I'd say either shock or +1 movement (five promos unlocks westpoint, right? So the combat experience wouldn't be useful). Not expecting a ton of melee at this point though, so I may just do the unusual and have a two move machine gun I guess...

Leadership or Morale. He'll likely be seeing a lot of action in the coming campaign, so we may be able to leverage Leadership into another promotion or two. My gut, however, says Morale. A two-mover stack at some point in the future covered by a Drill IV machine gun sounds sexy smile

WK, feel free to end turn for me after you've finished up. I just need the gold for research.

Could we invade t184 and make the musketeers catch up to the main stack through enemy territory? (ie the two stacks merge 1W of Leewyn's border city) Just trying to find ways to cut time off since we really need to be invading ASAP, and I doubt at this point any other last minute units (aside from musketeers) will matter compared to moving in earlier.

Either they forgot in the shock of seeing our stack, or they wanted to let us know that they've see our stack for some reason. Guessing the former as the latter makes no sense in this scenario (they don't want us to push our invasion ahead of schedule).

I think I may favor Leadership. He's going to hopefully do a ton of battles, and double experience should mean he can get to morale fairly easily, as well as any other promotions (for when we upgrade him if nothing else). On the other hand if were not expecting to be attacked but having to trudge through Leewyn's megastack in Beijing (quite likely given we have MG's and they have nothing better then muskets), then Morale may be better since we may not get the experience in the MG's.

I feel like a bit of an idiot for not thinking of that.....

Yes, we can push it up another turn. The first tile we move the stack onto is flatland, so the musketeers, along with my last couple knights, can stage and move two spaces the following turn to join the stack. We can't invade on t184, but we can invade on t185 - reaching the gates of the city on t190.

Good catch WK.
