Epic Eleven - Results

I have posted the placeholder for the Epic Eleven results up on my website (we'll add a results page on the RBCiv website shortly):

http://www.garath.net/Sullla/epic11results.html

Two words of explanation: as far as fastest finishes go, my own shadow game is counted as though it simply doesn't exist. Therefore, even though I had the earliest victory (and by a pretty good margin tongue ) mostly_harmless gets the top points for that category. That's why there are two different games getting top scoring there.

Second: T-Hawk's game. I decided to take T-Hawk's suggestion of disallowing survival points for his Egypt, as that was the only part of his game affected by the gifting of units. Thus, T-Hawk's game only has 32 points for surviving civs instead of the 36 listed on his homepage. However, I ALSO noticed that T-Hawk had an addition error on his website: he tallied up the score to 121, when in fact it was only 120. This meant that his overall score became 116 instead of 117 after the penalty was applied. Then T-Hawk got those same 4 points back again for having the second-fastest finish, taking him back to 120 points. A whole lot of running around in circles there, which largely doesn't matter because T-Hawk had the top score regardless. smile

Very good turnout for this event, and a lot of nice games played. We ended up with two different tie scores (myself/Kylearan and Michelangelo/sunrise) despite some entirely different paths in those games! Always interesting to see that. I picked up a lot of good feedback for use in crafting future events from this (hint: be careful with the red herrings!) and working on scoring systems (give more points for fastest finishes!)

Thanks for your participation! thumbsup

Hi,

The right decision in my opinion. I meant to post about this in his report thread but forgot to do it. His game was the best one, and his mistake was only a minor one. I think he deserves this exception and thus the win. (Says the player who would otherwise had won wink )

Oh, and great turnout indeed! thumbsup

Thanks for not nailing me on the TKO. wink And apologies for all that scoring confusion. I added up my numbers on a old TI-82 graphing calc from back in high school. So I blame that for the addition mistake. lol Anyway, I updated the page on my site with correct scoring including the fastest finish, so nobody ever need be confused again. thumbsup

Compromise could've come out on top if he'd played through to the conclusion. He was also on his way to sweeping the wonders, and topped me by 5 points in 260 AD and everybody by 4 points in 1502 AD. I'll have to read that report in detail (been extremely busy with work this week) to see how he did it...

Thanks Sulla for the game and the nice work on the results!

Congrats all on a bunch of interesting games. I didn't play due to the evil Large/Epic combo, but I find myself wishing I had.

This was a fun event, and I enjoyed reading the many reports. I learned a good bit more about Civ in many ways: from playing, from reading reports, and from the many discussions in the reporting threads. Very cool.

Congrats especially to T-Hawk, Kylearan and Sullla (and to mostly_harmless for the fast finish) and Bravo to all!

Although I did not play, it was intresting to read the reports. A well designed scenario. Good job, Sullla!

I've never seen the "our state religion is the best" hapiness bonus before. How do you get that bonus? There's also a "we demand free religion" negative modifier that I've seen in screenshots before, but never got it either. Thanks~

"Our state religion is the best" comes from two sources. One is simply having the religion in a city which gives +1 happy. The other is a cathedral, which gives +2 happy only if its religion is your state religion.

"We demand Free Religion" I've never seen - perhaps that's a screenshot from a beta version or a mod?
