For SL, Kyan and Novice:
Game Summary
I pulled Justinian of the Natives. While not a power combo like Kyan's, hardly the worst leader/civ I could get. I settled 1N of my starting location on the plains hill, inadvertently getting sheep in my BFC for a three food start (plains cows, grassland sheep, dry corn).
However, this was balanced by a lack of good commerce terrain, no early happy anywhere to be found (until I discovered a silver in the tundra much later) and worst of all, no horses or copper within a lightyear of my start.
Found a couple nice spots to my south and expanded into them as quickly as possible. I also found a two-seafood island offshore, and was planning to settle it next to use its TRs, along with the GLH, to power my economy. However, all these cities were covered by dog soldiers, and when SL sent four chariots at me, there was almost nothing I could do. He suffered no casualties, killed 4 dogs and 2 warriors, then razed Liara. It was about at this point that Novice got sight on Garrus and told me to build military :neenernee
SL could have just rolled me at that point, and taken my capital with ease. Fortunately, he backed off, and I got archery and some Totem Pole boosted archers online a couple turns later. I continued working on the GLH, and researched iron working, finding a source in the capital's BFC.
When the game ended, I was at three cities, and a turn away from expanding into four. I was a couple turns from landing Judaism, with the intention of getting to monarchy to help deal with happiness issues.
Major Mistakes
- Delaying Archery so long
- Not prioritizing Monarchy
- Missing Stonehenge?
