Micro note; we need to swap from the plains-hill to the plains-wheat next turn. It gets us the worker in the same amount of time, we get +2 commerce for our trouble, and we don't get reamed by overflow round-downs (if we worked the plain-hill all the way through, we'd have an overflow of 2, which would get rounded down to 1. If we only worked one-turn on the wheat, we'd get overflow of 1 rounded to 0!). So we trade 1 overflow hammer for 2 commerce.

Yeah, barbs are off. It's mostly in case there's a bottom land-bridge that Sian may be looping around.

well, it's also possible that everyone connects via land N or S, too - but I think we are good.
Any bets as to cylindrical or toroidal?

No bet, Cylindrical based on the minimap (spot of ice revealed there...)

So in most of these tests I've been making a couple of macro assumptions that I suppose we should talk about. Currently I've been thinking that the strongest way to get more commerce and therefore help build an era-level advantage over our neighbors is to:
a) ignore early religion, we've got 2 happy resources and our cities won't get to size 6+ very early.
b) ignore metalcasting and the top of the tree until we have Bureaucracy in hand.
c) travel down the writing -> mathematics -> currency -> code of laws post worker-techs b/c it gives us libraries, wealth, trade-routes, and courthouses so that we can keep our foot on the gas.
d) pop a GSci build an academy in our #2 city and then move the capital there so that the 8 palace commerce gets filtered through the academy and then Bureacracy as well.
I think (D) is the place where I'm mostly likely mistaken. If we don't go for the GSci super-early we can push harder growth and then pop the GSci super-fast once we hit Caste w/ CoL since we have several city sites which can run large food surplus (The Whales/Deer/Deer/Sheep site in the north for instance).
Thoughts, AT, Serdoa?

As a builder, picking up a religion and monotheism for org religion is nice - org religion gets us a bonus on all buildings and means never having to build a monument - just a missionary - which I like.
That said - getting to monotheism is about as much as getting to math.
I think we should keep it in mind.

Yeah, the religion & OR is nice, but I'm trying to think of what buildings we're going to be building early game. Pretty much:
Granaries
Libraries
Some Monuments
Maybe a Barracks
And I haven't run into the happy-cap pre-caste anyways, so we can push CON for our religion, and the only city that needs the fast border-pop is Lakhma anyways... Hmm, now that would be a weird play. Can we tech in time to get a religion on Lakhma...

Remember to rejigger the tiles worked to get the worker in the same time but with +2 commerce.
