This map is evil!

This one is a variation on theme in ffh21.
*) It has no irigation either, but you can run aristofarms on it without much trouble. *) It's much more hilly and more densely forested, *) due to that I placed less calendar / mine resources around. *) No free Patria/Bones for everyone either. *) Lower difficulty ( Prince ) to give them a faster paced game they wanted WB Save Thoughts?
For lack of a proper lurker thread, Yell0w's attack on Kyan could hit hard. Kyan's cities are defended with single warriors, and he lacks vision of the west. Not to mention the Worldspell calls for you to delete warriors.
It could yes. But what exactly will he gain by it? Skimming over his thread, it seems Kyan is 18 tiles away from him. 18 tiles is a lot. Keeping cities that far away could be ... hard, to say the least. I've had that in 18. If he only pillages, well, it seems Kyan has mostly farms and pastures yes? If so, they do not yield that much gold. He probably will pay more for all the upgraded scouts.
Ok, so back to keeping the cities. That will probably cost an arm and a leg. Plus the unit maintenance. I'm not sure there is much tech-rate remaining in that case. What probably means he has to try to keep the momentum and attack the others as well. And knowing Kyan, I expect him not to fold like instantly. In that case, even if he can stall him for only a few turns, it might be enough for the others to get troops. And depending on the promotions (I think Yellow said he will have none) some archers might actually be enough. In FFH18 most of my horses had between 5 to 10 xp (+C1 from AGG if I remember correctly). And I had 20 of them. Sidar still hold. Of course, they saw me coming and had some time to prepare + had enough settled GP to upgrade troops every turn. But still... 10 horses are not that impressive imo. And if he has them T56 (I think that was his ETA) + 5 turns travelling is T61. Probably T63+ till he can threaten Kyans cap. So at least 7-8 turns to get something going for Kyan. He might be crippled but 10 horses probably won't cut it (except for incredible combat luck I'd guess - or complete wrong reaction on Kyans part, what I doubt).
Attacking Kyan now sounds like a good idea to me. He's clearly the best player in this game, even if Yell0w can't take and hold anything, just eliminating or crippling him helps keep the field competitive. Plus Yell0W is raiders, pillaging & burning cities will pay off nicely for him. Say the Doviello chose to just sit tight and build instead- how could they realistically compete with the Luchiurp any better in the middle or late game?
Doviello are one of the best rush civs. Because that's like all they have going for them. Though I'd lean towards upgrading bronze axes, Mist-style.
He's going to be too slow. I think he mentioned mid turn 60's as a date to move out, Kyan will have Wood Golems everywhere by then, and neither Horses nor Axex do much good against WG's in a city. When I rushed Sciz, he was on 3 cities, just built Barnaxus and did not pop the WS for production. And it was still an uphill struggle. Kyan is in way better position right now.
I guess it helps that it's EitB and Luchiurp no longer sucks.
Edit: Oh hey, there was just an update. Yep, Kyan's not dying. This game is fast. |
