Maybe 4th pick in snake should get first move in game (i.e., first in turn order), and 1st pick should get last move? That would give tiebreak advantage on wonder building and first-to-tech great people.

I dunno, the pick I'm hoping not to draw is 3rd. At least 4th lets you pick for synergy.
In any case, I'd rather do turn order by timezone, if teams actually have any sort of consistent timezone. Ours is essentially late-night EST.
I mean, heck, we've still got random events on, how perfect can the balance realistically be? Better to go for some semblance of speed.

The voting so far (assuming one vote for Hart; let me know if you're speaking for your teammates, Hart):
Lairs: Yes 1, No 3
Huts: Yes 1, No 6
Xml tweaks: Yes 0, No 5
Duplicate civs: Yes 0, No 5
Banter/diplo thread: Yes 4, No 1
We seem to have a pretty clear trend on almost every question, which is good.

I agree. Now we need to have a map-maker and start the snake-pick.

So, how does this work? Is there room for me to join a team?
I might be persuaded to put together a map as well (or instead).

Hi and welcome to RB!
This game now has 4 teams of 3 which is full. However, one of the teams may be after a spare turn player just in case. I know that for me personally, i'm too selfish to share my civ, but most folk are nicer than me
A good alternative, especially as this would be your first RB multiplayer game, would be to choose a team to become a dedicated lurker for. The idea is that you read only that teams thread and you are therefore free to post whatever you want, make suggestions etc etc. The downside to this is that you can't read the lurker thread or threads of the other teams (so be careful which you open up in in the interim if this option interests you). A regular 'lurker' can read all threads but can't make ideas or suggestions to the players directly. However, you gain access to the lurker thread where you can mock our plays and point out obvious things we've missed
In terms of being a mapmaker, maps are *much* harder to make, than you would initially assume. I say this from experience as a guy that made a much-disliked map used on these forums haha. I would reccommend a team of lurkers to check it over in a dedicated thread if you intend to pursue this option. Please take that in the manner it is intended. These games takes many months of the players lives and can easily be ruined by an easily missed oversight on the part of the mapmaker.

I think I would be speaking for my teammates... they would rarely visit here.
They might vote for lairs (that's two votes, I am still against), but since lairs are already at 6 against, then it is a moot point.

Fantastic. You may be just the person we're looking for then What experience do you have, if you don't mind me asking? I'm sure it's more than my pitiful attempt

OzzyKP - You're definately welcome to dedicately lurk our team.
We're also missing a map maker so getting that one too would be great. Below is one idea to make balanced map fast. No one commented it so I guess it is alright to all . So if you decide to make the map you can use that or do it some other way. However my preference is a map with relatively little water. btw. I know you've made lot of BtS maps, but do you've experience on FFH2 maps?

I would be ok with Wildlands to give a bit more barbs.
Since no one has voluteered to make map so far we probably need to discuss about that too. Drawing it from the scratch or trying to balance it after the map generator is pretty tiresome task for 12 players. Therefore I would be alright, if the map would be done in a pretty similar fashion as Pitboss 6 map i.e. mostly mirrored. Here are my idea how the map could be generated without that much work.
* Generate a Huge or Large map using some lakes script that allows editing the amount of water without map specials. I would suggest 10-15% water. Position 3 teams in the upper left square of the map and mirror it 1st vertically and then the northern part of the map horizontally to get southern part so that all teams have equal starting boxes there. If you want you could make a transition in the south moving the positions so that they are not directly above each other i.e. staggered. Of course, if you do this you might need to do some balancing work in the equator to make the area fair there. Even without this staggering the map would be alright
* special features should probably be off while generating. However after the generation one could place 1 or more of them in the contested regions.
I used mapview to handle the mirroring. It is a bit clumsy and unstable, but you'll get it done eventually . So does this sound ok to you? Any voluteers for the job?
