[SPOILERS] 3 Players, 1 Civ, No Clues - Tatan, Nakor, and Serdoa are Darius of Rome

Yeah, you are right. We need to wait and wait some more...

I suggest we tech CoL before CS, just to get the discount. Then Machinery and we might be able to build us an army somewhere...

Here's how our strong empire is doing:

Played the turn. Science to 0% for 1 turn, back to 100% next turn so we can get CoL in 2 turns.

While running 100% research, though, we're actually number 4 in GNP! yikes

Played the turn. Queued up some forges, moved some workers. Sunrise is currently researching Machinery at 100% gold, which would give him maces. We'll need to make sure we have quite a few more longbows by the time he finishes his research...

If they let us live... jive
Remember, being top 10 is an achievement with this start.

Played the turn. Indeed a lot of Forges being build, but we need them.
CS after CoL? Or do we tech Construction first (cheap with lots of known tech bonus) for the catapult option?

I don't think catapults would help us a whole lot; unless we build an absolutely ridiculous number of catapults, they won't damage enemy stacks enough for our axes and longbows to have good odds. Without maces, I think any counterattack on an invading stack would be a Pyrrhic proposition at best. Let's go straight for CS.

Sunrise in the diplo thread Wrote:@Moogle - I can't help but notice my request to transit your land hasn't exactly seen a torrent of responses smile

Would you have any interest in making another civ contact via Rome? If they agree, I'd be willing to allow a Roman unit to transit my land and meet you in exchange for letting my unit through yours.

What do you think about this? Assuming we can spare a unit, I suppose it can't hurt to meet another civ for the slight teching bonus.

Also, as a heads up I've got a number of things IRL going on in the next several weeks, so I fear my playing/posting might be kind of flaky. Sorry!

I can take care of things, no problem!

Played another turn. Still not a lot going on. Getting infra done so we can decide what to do war-wise next.

Serdoa, I could use a hand regarding a good war plan...

Sorry Nakor, I'm not really checked in this game :/ As for a war plan: Do our opponents have GP or better already? If not catapults should be good enough to bring them down to 50% HP and therefore are certainly necessary. Also they are needed for any kind of defense (in their cities they might get 200% defense bonus, but when attacking us they won't get that). So, I'd rather get them before Maceman.

Now, that is only looking at the military side of things. But this decision should take into account current game-state. Do we have to expect someone to attack us soon? If so get Catapults now. But if not, CS for Bureau could make sense (I'm not sure how our capital looks like right now).

As for CoL: Do we need anything from that tech? If not I doubt that the bonus on research for CS will offset the cost for teching it first. I wouldn't tech something we don't expect to use for at least another 50-100 turns just to get a small bonus on the next tech. Saving 100 beakers by investing 300 isn't the kind of deal we should be after smile (Though of course, I am not sure if we can even directly tech CS without going for CoL first - not sure what else we have teched now)
