General Thoughts

One thing we have neglected a bit in this game is great people. I think we should start running a few scientists in Nero once that forum completes--an academy would give us nearly 40 more bpt, and even if we get another great merchant we could use it to pop a golden age and revolt to mercantilism.

We should probably ship a worker back over to help build a better road network and put up some windmills by Tiberius.

Tiberius now has enough hammers to build a longbow or a catapult once every two turns. :D Provided it doesn't, err, starve, which is why I want at least one windmill.

Teching

IMO we have three main mid-term tech priorities.

1) Guilds//Banking: grocers and banks are obviously helpful economically, and mercantilism is an all-upside civic in Always War.

2) (Philosophy)//Nationalism: drafting is fantastic for obvious reasons. That said, we might want to hold off on researching this until we have Rifling.

3) (Alphabet)//(Paper)//Printing Press//Replaceable Parts: Printing Press is good for our towns and Replaceable Parts is good for the windmills we should totally build. What's not to like? Plus, they lead to Rifling, a unit which DOESN'T REQUIRE IRON. nod

Agree on most things, Tatan!
Let's hire 2 GS after the forum completes and let's tech towards Banking and then towards Rifling, maybe grabbing Education as well. Let's play the money game and wait for the hammer to fall.....

Yeah, we're screwed. I left Tiberius' garrison in place--I figured that this is probably going to be the most defensible spot against Ichabod's attack, so hopefully we can make him bleed a bit. If he can't take the city this turn, we have ~3 longbows in position to reinforce (I also whipped walls).

I whipped Nero and Caesar and queued up catapults; we're going to need a lot of catapults and a lot of maces. In fact, I think it would be a good idea to beeline Nationhood immediately for masses of maces, who are our only decent unit for counter-attacking.

Ichabod also appears to be attacking Caesar by way of sea:

Unfortunately I failed to notice this until after I had already moved a longbow out of the city. banghead

I think this destroys any chance of us getting an economy. My only thoughts now are on how to survive. Any bright ideas?

Nice!
Can we upgrade the warrior in Ceasar?
We are fighting a lost cause... We knew this would happen.

Looking at CivStats, we lost both cities.
The server is disconnected and I won't have the time to play untill tomorrow.
Have fun, Tatan!

Tiberius got hit by basically every catapult in range and then swarmed; we killed a grand total of 3 catapults. Caesar got attack by two maces, which were both slain, but then fell to two swords (meaning that if I had not been a fool and moved out the longbow, it would have held banghead).

I am currently sending all available forces to Nero. Gold stayed at 100% in order to upgrade a few units. I think Nero's fall will be short and unpleasant, but we may as well do as much as possible to resist. Barring an attack from Plako we can probably hold the island for quite some time, though that is obviously futile in the long run.

Also, as a heads-up I'm not going to have internet from tomorrow to monday.
