Sirian's Day One of Diablo 3

Sometimes I'll have a 500-1000+ latency in game and can tab out and traceroute Blizzard's servers up to their internal cut-off point with no hops less than 80ms. They have issues on their end.

My latency varies between 250 ms and 450 ms which is perfectly playable (but I do get hit by projectiles that I seem to dodge sometimes). Only 1-2 times has it spiked to unplayable levels and fortunately I wasn't in combat when that happened.

Anyway finished up normal difficulty yesterday after 4 deaths (2 vs Belial, 1 vs Azmo + Diablo) and will likely not be exploring anywhere near as much now that I've seen most of the story and lore elements of the game.

Yup I'm postponing my hardcore chars due to it. Go from 200-300ms range to suddenly up to 1200ms (has happened about a dozen times) and quite often spikes into the 450 range. Definitely something on their end that hopefully will be resolved soon, until then I'll just stick to softcore characters.

Is it me, or is Belial the hardest among the final act bosses? There's hardly any space to run, every hit HURTS, and sometimes there are so many green circles you can't even run away. Not to mention that breathe.

Azmodan is a serious joke.

It's the Act II end boss after all - certain traditions have to be followed. smile

Wait, are you trying to say that Duriel was hard? lol

Aparently, just like real APM and blizzard APM in SC2, normal ping and blizzard ping are two different things.

Bashiok Wrote:The latency indicator in-game is not a simple ping like most games, and is actually a full process of the game sending an action to the service, the service processing it, and returning it to the client. This means that the latency indicator actually gives a more accurate account of what the experience is for game data, but in comparison to other games will seem high. We're more interested in issues where there is actual performance degradation, and certainly there may be, but the in-game latency number is not a simple ping and therefore shouldn't be used literally as a measurement against performance elsewhere.

He might be the toughest, my problem was his arms coming down on top of me with no warning rather than the meteors or whatever they were. With Azmo I died because I decided to just take one of his fireballs to kill him faster, since I was running around with low vitality it killed me in one hit lol
Diablo death was when I thought hurting my clone hurt me too so I stopped attacking it. Diablo then popped up, trapped me then picked me up and yelled "OMG U R NOOB!"* in my face which was enough to kill me.

* This may not have actually happened

Personally, I find Diablo tougher overall because he's less predictable with his attack routine. Having said that, the earlier part of the Belial fight with the respawning snakes is no joke on higher difficulty levels.

Belial is pretty hard at first, but he has a fairly predictable attack pattern. Once you know what to look for, you can avoid most damage without too much effort.
