TT. Hum.
"Oh yeah, that Lepanto is fake, just wanted to make everything think I was going for you while I'm actually going for... well... uh... oh hey, you want to both go for Austria?"
I don't know, it seems like Turkey hitting Austria without weakening Russia doesn't usually work to well...
"Then I guess I'm going to have to attack you then, even if you do know it's coming. I mean, it's not like you have a build that can bounce me out of the E.Med or anything."
I... uh...
"Actually, what I really want to do is attack Austria. You sure you can't help with that?"
Well I could, but I'm kinda setting up defensively here 'cause there's this guy looking like he's going to hit me with a Lepanto, y'know?
"Well if you can't help, I guess I'm going to have to stick with the inital plan and hit you, then."
Wait, wait, wait. I suppose I might be able to do something in Autumn '02, depending on how everything else works out...
"Excellent, look forward to it. Well, I've got to go now, see you later!"

Fun chat with Tatan, managed to cover some stuff actually relevant to the game before degenerating into random procrastination chat from both sides
He'd apparently been in communication with TT just before my conversation with TT, and with him TT had been aggressively pushing Lepanto, none of the erratic mind changing that was going on with me. I can defintiely see why, though (case 1: going to attack me anyway - pretend there's a chance you're not going to, maybe they'll fall for it. case 2: if a hit on austria eventuates - why alert him to the fact? I'm assuming the only reason he was informing me about the likelyhood of him hitting me was because I called him out on it first). Good news is that Tatan a) informed me of this and b) is apparently more interested in working with me than with TT, especially since TT was supposedly eager to get Russia in on it as well. Being stuck between an expanded Italy and Russia doesn't seem like the best position for either of us. Shared with him the fact that TT was trying to get me to go for Austria, hopefully that further sours relations.
Somewhat surprisingly, he never brought up the idea of me supporting Rum. He did seem to be labouring under the idea that Rowain would prefer to secure BLA than make a concerted effort to kick him out of Rum, though. Not quite sure where that came from. I didn't raise the fact that I'd appreciate it if he didn't try to hil Bul, since the last time I specifically asked someone not to do something was TT with a Lepanto, and you can see how that worked out...
Also had a chat with Bigger, who might not be bouncing Swe, instead attempting to push against England. So it's looking like Rowain might get two builds, which could be awkward. I'm hoping he keeps to our deal, and build something like F(St.P)nc and A(War).
Random housekeeping with scooter, nothing of actual substance discussed.

Sent in orders:
A(Bul)->Gre
A(Con)->Bul
F(Ank)->Con
Italy needs the build from Tunis, so they shouldn't be contesting Gre with no possible support.
I'm hoping Tatan doesn't try anything funny in Bul, that could be annoying. If he does, then that likely signifies IA cooperation, which means I'm probably dead soon-ish anyway :/
Fleet following into Con to give it something to do, really... I agreed with Rowain not to ->BLA, and if the fleet actually moves then I have two builds, both of which will be Fleets in the two empty centres, giving me a fleet on each centre. So it's irrelevant if it moves ot Con or holds in Ank. Moving to Con at least doesn't make quite as obvious what the non-Smy build will be, and fits in with scrambling to defend against Lepanto.

Rowain just confirmed that the 'no fleet in BLA -> no fleet built in Sev' deal is still on. Now I'm even more paranoid - last time someone confirmed something last minute was TT confirming that I wasn't going to be able to stop a Lepanto easily...
The 'obvious' way this can come back to bite me (Tatan evacuates Rum, Ukr->Rum, Sev->BLA) still involves me getting two builds, though, so I'm not that worried in the short term. The issue arises if Tatan decides to cut Bul, is displaced by the fleet from Sev, and then Rowain builds F(Sev). He'll have two fleets to bring to bear on BLA, while I'll only have one there, with the other (in Smy) needs to deal with a Lepanto.
Basically, if I get two builds then I'm set to turtle for a while, if I don't (and people are aggressive) then I'm in trouble...

Cool, moves went through as planned. Would have preferred if Rowain moved the Army rather than the Fleet, since that would garuntee he's not going to stab, but as long as he doesn't actually stab it's all good.
After Tatan retreats to Ser to secure himself a build, I'll send in my builds. F(Smy) and F(Ank). You can never have too many fleets :D

Rowain has been trying to bully me into not building F(Ank)... yeah, not falling for that any time soon.

Just realised that is we work together, me and Tatan have a good chance of destroying Rowain's F(Rum) outright this Spring, assuming Rowain doesn't take rather outlandish precautions. Which would then make working with Rowain a much more palatable idea, assuming I can prevent it from ever being rebuilt. A slightly belated TR alliance with me in a stronger position would be something I might be interested in. Not sure about his end, though, given I've got to be hitting him a little to get into that slightly stronger position...

Chat with Rowain about posible aggression towards Austria. If Tatan doesn't respond concretely about exact orders to displace Rum, might take him up on his suggested plans. Really hoping Tatan gets back to me, though.
In related news, I'm actually terrible at this game. I talk to someone and they're not saying they plan on immediately killing me, I want to ally with them. At some point I'm going to have to stab one of the people who seems to be working with me fairly openly, or more likely stab both of them at some point, and that's going to be rather awkward :/

... why am I tempted to just attack everyone adjacent to me and hope they don't get together and co-ordinate actions against me in response? I mean, IR should be dealing with Austria for a little bit longer, right?
In related news, strategic planning at 2am is not actually very productive. More likely the opposite, in fact.

OK, heard back from Tatan.
F(Ank) -> BLA
F(Con) -> AEG
F(Smy) -> EAS
A(Bul) S AUSTRIAN Ser -> Rum
A(Gre) H
...this is so going to immediately come back and bite me in the arse :/
in related news, TT approached both me and Tatan about supporting him into Alb, offering me support into Ser next season, and I assume offering Tatan support into Gre next season. Unfortunately, I'd already garunteed him that I wouldn't bounce him, even if I didn't end up supporting him, before I learnt that he'd been to Tatan as well. Here's hoping he's actually going for Tri, rather than Gre...
