I'm thinking there's more productive way to do votes on some of these things - pretty sure there are plugins you can do to poll via google docs with results tabulated in an excel sheet or something. I'll look into it.

It will be paired down again. Actually, I collapsed a lot of the categories recently and will do so again now.

Well you have to account for the big 'attack me' wonder whoring screams out as opposed to having more developed tiles and cities. Though who really knows?

Agreed.

If we're playing well, we'll be out to an early lead on the scoreboard and in the demos regardless. In that situation it seems better to be ahead a lot rather than a little. But maybe that's just me. smile

But RB is up against terrible players and I'm a terrible player so you should listen to me. tongue

TBH, you don't actually have to worry about it until your opponents have the political will power and economic strength to unite against you but as we have found out through successive PBs that a dog pile is really hard to pull off before the victim becomes run away.

But I think IND makes its presence felt in a more tangible way.

Please stop overthinking this and pick the #1 best leader in the entire game.

It's not that cut and dry. No leader is the #1 best across all possible game setups... that's an oversimplification. Some are more generally useful, yes, but you still have to tailor your pick somewhat to the settings (map, difficulty and number of opponents being the major ones).

Pacal is indeed good here, but Huayna is also excellent.

Distance maintenance will be relatively high but #cities maintenance will still be low. Hopefully the map is such that we can settle a couple cities 3rd ring, where distance maintenance will only be 1.

I still support Pacal and my second choice would actually be Willem. For civ let's pick up something with Agriculture/Wheel as they are the most expensive techs and comprise 2/3 of the best techs together with mining, and also because pottery is an amazing tech for both our traits. Egypt and Sumeria are both good choices. Ottomans maybe too.

Emperor barbs in multiplayer are a lot less scary than you might think because WB-editing the save removes their techs, so they don't start with archery.

Agriculture's the main tech we'd definitely want to start with, I think. Second consideration is between The Wheel and Mining.

Agri/Wheel civs:
Egypt
Sumeria
Ottomans
France
Babylon

Agri/Mining civ:
China

So we have a pool of 6 if we're choosing solely based on starting techs. (7 if you count Wheel/Mining Mali.)

Can't this be corrected for though? (Not saying we'd want that.)
