Yeah... it just seems weird that they would have played enough pitboss games to need a doublemove mod, but still not be very good. And according to the new, a lot of young people in Spain right now have nothing to do but play video games... there must be some good civ players there. They might be trying something crazy.

They have a pitboss community. They even made a mod for it, for crying out loud. Of course they will try to do well for themselves.
This.
If by some ridiculous twist of fate, they have pre-vassaled, then we'll switch their loyalties to us. No biggie.

Aye, but only decent. Their combo is incredibly strong but ours isn't a lot worse.
We got Pacal! God knows how (Boudica, really?). I'm just glad you weren't tempted away. Egypt is a nice pick, personally prefer Mali but c'est la vie. Egypt is a good deterrant.
The Boudica of Zulu thing should be seen as an opportunity rather than a threat. This is easy to approach diplomatically:
Impis > War Chariots but lose to axes
War Chariots > Axes.
What could > War Chariots + Impis together? Nothing, we can be unstoppable! How about we sign a nice long NAP so we can focus on our enemies on the other sides? In fact, better yet, to sweeten the deal how bout we offer to gift you a resource we may have double of (or similar) or even gift you a couple of war chariots. Can you imagine the enemies faces when they prepare for your impis only to see War Chariots turn up? You'll be unstoppable and we'll guard your other border!
====
You force your enemy to attack in the other direction and buy yourself time for our economy/micro to steam on ahead. Better yet, this is so easy to pull off diplomatically that it's untrue. Let them think they're big and scary and the top dog. Who wouldn't want 'mighty RB' playing suckass for a bit. Even if they manage to conquer someone, I don't fear them in the slightest. We'll out expand them through regular means and wipe them out in the lategame with an overwhelming tech advantage.

Kyan, would it be possible to have you negotiate my next raise for me?
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Seriously you could sell sand in Sahara, gloves to a leper, ice to an Eskimo etc. (you get the drift)
I'm glad we have you on the diplo team

Beating a dead horse here, by why do we trust these guys to make a mod? Documentation is non-existent, code is poorly commented, testing cycle is minimal, website is in Spanish. Pretty much every other post they make reveals a new surprise feature or option.
And they top it all off with questionable choices at best in the snake pick.

Coding ability is often quite divorced from gaming skill. It's pretty obvious he's competent. But yes I'm quite wary of bugs. They happen to everyone.

Coding brilliance and competence in putting together a bug-free final product are also often very much divorced from one another.
I don't look to quality assurance for elegant solutions to hard problem and I don't expect big picture idea guys to have exhaustively tested every case of an implementation.

Just saw this looking around on Apolyton (I wasn't actually there trying to snoop--was looking for something else and just happened to come across their front page post which said this)
Quote:Elizabeth was our top choice so we are all pleased she fell to us.
Interesting.
Also, happened to see this from 2metra in the comments:
Quote:OMG, guys, The League took my invitation to join the MTDG and they will form a team.
The Realms Beyond guys may be meticulous and everything, but the League are the scariest opponents I can imagine.
I have a feeling Kyan might be able to put that to good use
Also worth noting though was this comment:
Quote:Well, how can we exploit this approach [referring to someone quoting LP's micro plans in PB 4]? What can we do to get them out of their comfort zone? It seems to me that building up and trying to outtech them is a passive approach. I think we should try to run them over. If we are choosing not to interact with them, that is giving them the initiative and gives them total control.
Could we zerg rush them successfully?
Edit -spies are very useful to the rushing civ - as is the double move. It really depends on how we want to approach things. I think we should decide on the common strategy first, and then decide on the settings.
I'm confident that Apolyton does many things well, and rather then committing to one approach, we can be more of a wildcard, but we need to figure out how we are going to attack this first.
To which it was responded:
Quote:Well, there are going to be like 8+ teams in this game, there's no reason to start formulating a plan around one of them. Let's wait and see what we're actually up against first. RB isn't destined to be the top dog either...
Anyhow, just happened across this, figured it was interesting. (For the record, this was in the comments on Apolyton's mainpage, and also included multiple comments from Sommer and 2metra, so I don't think there should be any expectation of us not having this knowledge)
