In particular, would a 3-4 player game work? Last time I tried it was very slow and crashed so often that it was basically unplayable.
Thanks,

On civ players the number of matches has jump from 0-5 to 10-20. Something must have happned. I still think MP would be a waste of time -- although sullla's essay is a bit outdated it shows that the gameplay just does not work well.

I don't have a problem with that trade: XCOM remake >>> Civ5 reworking.

Agree with the de-topping of this thread.
After all, does anyone check in here anymore other than to cluck over the sad and sorry state of Civ V? (I'd say "the game we all love", but Civ V fails that sniff test by a long stretch)?
Civ 5 is the Moo3 of the Civ franchise. I wanted to like this game, I wanted a worthy successor to Civ 4.....ala Civ 2 to civ 1. but it ain't happening here.
Bury it and let's get on with some real Civ.

Just rename this to: "New Civilization Game Discussion"

Just in case anyone still cares, Civ V just got a new patch. It includes a number of UI and modding and functionality improvements that will go along with the expansion. There's a CFC thread here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=464312
Quote:- In some cases, previous saves may not work correctly after updating.
According to the Civfanatics general and bug forums, this one is a doozy. Apparently the internal ID numbers of several civilizations (chiefly DLC civs) got switched around, so loading an old save with the new patch can see things like Inca turning into Mongols. And apparently Firaxis knew this and went with it anyway.
You might want to keep Steam in offline mode if you have any unfinished games...

Uh. I don't even know how to respond to that.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Hm... maybe that Einstein quote could come in handy right now...
some thread on CFC Wrote:For those that are getting the "I can't end my first turn" bug, could you please try something for me, and let me know if it corrects your problem?
1. Open up your config.ini (My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/)
2. Look for the following line: EnableGameCoreThreading = 1
3. Change it to: EnableGameCoreThreading = 0
Thanks, and let me know.
Patches are meant to FIX stuff, not break it. Especially not something basic such as this. And, from skimming the thread on CFC:
Linked Thread Wrote:I'm guessing you build 7 courthouses. Courthouses were overpowered before the patch.
...
I remember having problems waging an effective war (where effective means that one ends up capturing the other civ's cities) due to unhappiness before, until courthouses came into play. Now, that way of playing the game is out, too? Maybe I'm missing something, but razing cities and establishing new ones in their place will become king right now.
Overall, I might test whether the game works or not, but I'm not holding my breath.

Something really funny happened to me today. I went in for a job interview, and the interviewer asked me what my hobbies were. I mentioned that I played civ, and he immediately asked "oh yeah? Have you played V? What did you think about that one compared to IV?"
Just goes to show you never know what's going to come in handy, I guess .

I think the question is did he like V or IV better? And does that influence your opinion of the job?
