Looks like France's game with careful play. Tunisia is incredibly valuable here.

It's very close to being plausible to just ignore England for now and take Scandinavia: Nth c Edi - Nwy, Den - Swe.
Now Russia can do nothing to help Turkey get past the stalemate line and it's just a case of mopping up the English and setting up to take StP. Mopping up the English looks easier said than done if they break out, however, so I think killing the English first has to be best.
Nth c Den - Yor, Edi s Den - Yor, Iri - Eng looks tempting. It gives a shot at taking both English centres by force this year (after Wal - Lvp). There's still a good chance that England will take the channel by force. Without the forces in Scandinavia, the escapee will be rounded up without so much trouble, but taking Scandinavia will have to wait for another year, which may be very costly.
The minor adjustment of Iri - MAO allows Bre to be covered, though means only one English centre can be forced.
Overall though, your suggested option of a supported defence of the channel is my favourite, with one adjustment: send the army to Yorkshire and there's no defence that allows England to hold two centres. I'm still concerned about how long it is until the fleets can be brought to bear on Scandinavia.
Another point, I note that France needs to be more careful than it looks on the southern front. If Turkey takes a risk (it should, France will win otherwise), Ven s Tus - Pie, Rom - Tus means Pie can cut Mar and France is left with a guess between defending Lyo and Tun. Mar - Spa(sc) should safeguard against this.
Mardoc Wrote:Oh, and I have a conspiracy theory, too. Tasunke believes that there's an EGI on to dismember France. I've been assuming that means people are lying to him. However: What if he's right? The north sea bounce could have been deliberate, to leave German armies closer to France; combine that with Ven -> Pie and England putting up a defense to French fleets, and Scooter would be in a world of hurt - hurt that would mostly reward Germany and Italy.
I'm not really sure why he was so convinced of this. Of course I wanted this pre-game, so did TT I'm sure. But I talked to Tasunke once, late 1901 (I think), and then he dissappeared again.
Molach wasn't any better, at first. There was one season that was the tipping point (I don't remember, sometimes in 1902). Me and scooter both were making our opening attacks against England, and Molach had officially taken over for Tasunke. But he didn't contact anyone, to my knowledge. TT actually just about begged me to attack France on faith that England would jump on board, but I didn't feel comfortable doing it until I talked to Molach. Of course, after moves were submitted he popped up and was readily available - but it was too late .
In retrospect, I probably should have listened to TT, hehe.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
I dont get it. After all that posting about finding a solution to the England cleanup - scooter still ended up playing the guessing game. If Molach orders F LON->eng instead of F wal->eng, then England could race for some french cores as all A units on the mainland moved east/south.
I still like my solution better - took the guessing out of it and ensured England gets wiped. Sure maybe he gets NWY for a year - but that's preferable to what could have happened with him in SPA or POR.

If Molach ordered F Lon - Eng, then Scooter's fleet from North Sea would have moved into London and Scooter would already get all three English centers right now. The move Nth - Lon serves dual purpose: cuts the support for Wales - Eng (as happened) or else takes Lon outright. So I think Scooter did it right. Yes England could sacrifice his home centers to grab Brest, but that doesn't actually do him any good, France can kill a lone last English unit next year. England's lone unit would never make it back to a home English center so he'd never get to rebuild a second unit.
Agreed - it was an effective course of action - maybe i was reading too much into the letter of the challenge -i.e. the part about not endangering any current french cores and wanted to get F BRE build.
Interesting to see what happens with Rowain now - I hope Matt can get him to defend against the baby blue hordes.

So I wonder if Rowain is telling Mattimeo right now that his only hope to not lose to a scooter solo is to support him in holding Warsaw or StP? That's the only thing I can think of as why Rowain is playing like this - rather than be eliminated he is angling for Mattimeo to realize he has to work with Rowain else lose to France.

But he can't hold StP in the long run since a northern attacker can put 4 units on it while a southern defender only 3, so the blackmail strategy doesn't work this way round.
