Summary: SAT attacked into our Axe stack, taking out 3 Axes and a Catapult at the cost of 1 Axe. They fortified the hill. I smashed them with Catapults, losing 2 Catapults and 1 Axe to wipe out 4 Axemen, 4 Chariots, 1 Holkan, 1 Archer, and 1 Catapult. Highlight of the turn was my Spearman beating their GG Axe at 97% odds. We took out their stack with no hitters to spare. Our stack is intact but wounded, next turn I'll heal while bringing in 3 Axes, 1 Catapult, and 1 Chariot, then march on Geometry.

This was the situation that greeted me when I got the save:
SAT attacked into our Axes and fortified that hill. SAT merged their GG, spreading the XP out on all the troops. I sent in the Catapults, getting 32% odds on their Guerilla II Archer, their top stack defender. I didn't note the odds, but they rose quickly, to the point that my Catapults won 2 out of 4 fights.
After that, I sent in the troops, getting 85%+ odds to start and rising to 90%+. Surprisingly, our Spears got odds on their Axes, since their Axes were heavily wounded and our Spears were mostly fresh. Which leads to these hilarious shots:
Our last badly-wounded Axe finally reached the top of the hill:
He's probably going to die next turn, unfortunately. It doesn't look like SAT has enough forces to reoccupy that hill and keep it.
Combat Log:
If you're wondering, the Axe vs. Chariot loss was because the Chariot had Shock. We'll heal up next turn (faster than SAT, 30% vs. their 20%), wheel in more troops (3 Axes, 1 Catapult, 1 Chariot), then (hopefully) attack Geometry T87. I think SAT won't fortify that hill with significant forces, but instead hole up in Geometry. If they charge into our stack again, I think we have enough forces to win by sheer numbers. Hopefully the numerical advantage will last until we start outproducing them (or break their will to live).
In domestic news, I completed 1t Barracks in Touhoku and Katrina using whip overflow. I whipped Catapults in Krakatoa and Aral Sea and will hopefully do the same thing next turn. War Weariness appeared in all our cities, unfortunately. Without the Culture Slider or any happiness buildings except Colosseums, there's no much we can do. Build Colosseums (hammers not going to military), research Drama (beakers not going to CoL), sign peace (not until later), or hope that CFCJesterFool or Nicolae hook up Wines or Furs and buy it off them (doubtful).

SAT's in trouble. They've been whipping like mad and we're still beating them.
More people have been to Berlin than I have.
