No, like I said I didn't like Sareln's reaction. He gave a really lazy vote as his first post and I expected better from him. Then the bandwagon started on Tasunke and I tried to stop that.

Meiz Wrote:You chose Tas in the end, despite defending him originally. Clearly you seemed to think thestick was more innocent than Tas. So from your point of view, two likely villagers were being pushed on top, and you did nothing to bring alternative options to the table.

Yes, I believed thestick was more likely a villager than Tasunke. But you can't realistically push someone up to the top unless you have a legitimate wolf read on someone, and I didn't.

Meiz Wrote:I don't see how it is. What, you think he was so happy Napper that he couldn't stop himself from writing "Heh" in his theory? It seems to me that it comes from the fact that he repeated the same argument for both voting groups.

Yes, that's what I thought- he got a little exuberant surveying the votes and it bled out into his post. It's been known to happen. I still don't understand the pragmatics of why making the same argument twice in a post would be humorous. Seriously, someone please explain this to me. smile

Meiz Wrote:What kind of reaction were you trying to get?

If he was lying, he would be able to produce a chart instantly. If he was telling the truth, he may or may not be able to. It's an easy check that might be inconclusive but could confirm his story. I didn't expect his response of linking your chart with some fill-ins, but I think it's in line with him being honest.

Well, maybe it's the difference with us northerners or something lol

Ok, I'm somewhat satisfied with your answers. Going to change my vote to BRickAshley

I'm getting a feeling he is being coached on using busyness and newbieness as an excuse to stay quitet / posting no-content. Just gut, but the feeling is much stronger than from other newbies. Part of it comes from the arguments he has made, which feel like someone tells him to do it.

For example, I have hard time believing that a newbie would come up with this kind of accusation against Lewwyn, http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showpost....tcount=374
Thinking if a veteran spotted it and told him to use the argument. Also his latest vote against waterbat seems really odd. How does waterbats post distract us exactly?

BRick, have you lurked the previous ww games in here?

Molach seems to have talked himself around from Judaa Marr having to make up a "no name" fake claim on his own, to being supplied a fake claim by Bigger. His latest post explains why this is probably so:

Molach Wrote:Last thought before work. Realized from reading Bobs post. Again. Bigger did say it was safe to roleplay. So a guy starting to post as Marr suddenly getting jumped on by Lewwyn would find that rightfully unfair. So obvious that if Lewwyn is for real then it means that Marr must have been warned in pm about not claiming his true name. This also means the two late nameless claimers are no more suspicious than the rest.
Right.

My impression on Molach is that he's either a genuine villager or a wolf who's extremely adept at backpedalling. The latter description doesn't really fit the wolf Molach I know, so I think Molach's village.

That said, some of your assumptions are definitely flawed, Molach.
Molach Wrote:Sure.
I have made some assumptions. I assume that all 14 faction leaders are in the game. Only other possibility is that the GM left out one leader from the game and instead gave this name as a safe identity to the evil alien. But I assumed that Bigger wanted all his 14 childhood friends in the game, so instead gave the alien a safe noname claim.

This doesn't make sense in the first place, but even following your own logic it doesn't. Here's the thing. If Judaa Marr (or alternatively, the wolves) are given one of the faction leaders as a safe claim, it's pretty likely to get claimed. So Bigger's childhood friend WOULD be in the game.

Final comment about name claims. I found it a bit suspicious that Slowcheetah claimed to be Lal, since Bigger is treating Lal as an NPC in his writeups. It would be more suspicious if we suspected an invented fake claim over a safe claim provided by the GM, though.

Qgqqqqq Wrote:I'm personally suspecting Novice because of some suspicious posts.

Er, how would the wolves know about Catwalk's vig shot?

waterbat Wrote:My biggest Day 1 disappointment

Again, maybe its bitterness from last game seeping over, but where is the villager Zak from that game? He latched onto my innocent ass and wouldnt let go! I was kind of looking forward to him doing that to someone else this game..... and nothing. I didn't even get that satisfaction. Even look at his accusation this time - its half-cooked.

Also - did he follow up my silence with scathing words? No - he asked the group "for some company" ! His heart just isn't into it. If he was on the hunt, things would be different.

Now this I can agree with. I've also been waiting for Zakalwe to start some initiatives I can latch on to. (Serdoa, this is your cue to revote me.)

I agree that lurking is bad, but not exactly for the reasons you describe here. The main reason it's bad is that others can't get a read on you.

That said, I actually quite liked your big "distracting" post. Lots of nice little crazy theories there. smile So I think I will look for another ass to latch onto, as requested.

I already commented on two posts by Pindicator:

#350 http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthrea...post282279
#465 http://realmsbeyond.net/forums/showthrea...post282796

In both of those, he seems to react with excessive aggression. It's out of character, and pretty strange. He also fits the "blender" profile very well, and I don't think he is playing up to his usual standard. This feels like a smarter lynch than any of the "obvious" suspects.

pindicator Wrote:lol Maybe a bit excited to start the game?
This is the kind of innocuous comment that can actually be read both ways. Something a wolf might throw out in the hope that others will pick up on it.

Novice, when I was reading waterbats post about zakalwe my thoughts were:
My own thoughts Wrote:WHAT? How does he come to that conclusion?

I have played with zakalwe with him being a villager (even as Masons if I remember correctly) and him being a wolf. And despite zak not putting out as much as I would hope, what he does put out is exactly what I expect from a zakalwe in a game like this. Why? Well, lets remember back to the game where we lost so horrendously to the wolves (the one were Ichabod, Roland, etc. were wolves). I accused zak in that game, simply because he didn't catch them and wasn't all over them. I learned my lesson there. When there is nothing to go on even zak can't be expected to come up with a great hunt.

Now, someone mentioned it earlier and I agree, we probably have several veteran wolves in the game. Also I didn't know but according to Sareln they had time before the game to discuss strategy. Means it is no wonder that we have basically nothing to go on even now. We just have to be honest with ourselves as villagers and admit that the wolves played a good game till now. And in that case I don't see a zakalwe accusation as anything more then distraction. He didn't post much but when he posted it was helpful and generally trying to catch wolves. Can't say that about every player.

Ok, before I go to catching wolves, lets get to that Alien-discussion:

1) Looking at all the arguments I agree that Marr probably was provided with a fake-name. That weakens my argument against novice as there is no reason why he should be against claiming if he had a fake name to claim, except if he thought to appear more villagerish by doing that. Did he? Maybe, I'll revisit that later.

2) If Lewwyn is telling the truth and Marr is a wolf, then there is the possibility that the wolves do have a traitor in their ranks. Maybe they both do have the victory condition to kill the other and then will indeed leave the game. If that is the case we would trade a "villager" for a "wolf" and wouldn't need to care. Tbh I think we could metagame this quite a bit (for example: can we lynch Lewwyn and Marr will automatically leave the game?) but I'd rather buddy up with Selrahc on this one and ask Lewwyn to provide whatever more information he has. I'm happy to help him lynch his opponent, even if that means that he leaves as well IF that opponent is indeed a wolf (one for one trade is good for the village). But I'm not going to bother to invest much more time into this if it goes on to feel like Lewwyn does not provide the whole story. Why do I not believe it is the whole story he told? Because as I have stated, if all he told is all there is to tell, then he should have stated that basically in his first post for this game already. Lewwyn honestly, should we believe that your role basically stated:

You are <your name>. You know that Marr, your opponent, is among the Nappers. You win with the village when all threats to humanity are exterminated.

Thinking about it that really does not sound valid, sorry. As Selrahc already asked: What are you hiding?

-----------------

Ok, wolf hunting.

Selrahc: I believe him not to be a wolf as of now. His insistence on that whole alien-thing seems too much. Sure it could be a way to hide as a wolf and still appear active (and I certainly hope he'll start to actually provide us with his thoughts on possible wolves) but I believe him to be sincere in that he just doesn't believe Lewwyn.

zakalwe: As stated above when he does act his questions seemed for me like wolf-hunting. He had some posts that really made me believe "yes, he is out for them". Though I also hope he'll be more active.

Meiz: Same as zakalwe. Not much but what is posted makes sense and is generally helpful and shines new light on stuff.

Jkaen: Reminds me of another game I played with him were he hunted for wolves. I always picture him as an extremely kind guy but when he hunts wolves he gets rather "harsh" in his posts. I see that here too.

thestick: I honestly don't like his posts. I can't put my finger on it but it feels as there is much text but when I finished reading I'm not feeling that I gained any new insights at all. And I don't believe that to be a language-issue, as I remember reading stuff from him that was coherent and easy to understand. Maybe he is just trying hard not to slip up.

waterbat: Really unsure about him. I think he is a nice guy so I automatically cut him some slack. Could be either way.

Sareln: More villagerish vibes then wolf. But then he is posting so little that it is hard to act on it. Tbh if I hadn't a better target, I'd probably go for him or another lurker just to make the point that lurking is bad as it really, really, really doesn't help the village. Imo if there are not good enough leads on a wolf, lynch a lurker. Because you won't find out till the end if those are wolves.

Lewwyn: I am very certain he is not a wolf. But I am also agreeing with Selrahc that he probably isn't a villager either. See above for more thoughts on him.

Molach: I don't like many of his posts but I agree that the "Heh" isn't a lead at all. I interpreted it more as a sarcastic approach to the situation (I think sarcastic is the right word here...). Apart from that I think it would help if he posted a little more along his train of thought. I really have issues following your posts Molach. I read them - and then I read them again just to understand what you wanted to say. I think what you have to say is often interesting so I'd hope you can invest some more minutes into getting them into a more streamlined version so that dumb people like me understand it smile

slowcheetah: Oh, right, he is playing as well. Sareln at least seemed helpful when he posted. I can't remember what slowcheetah posted, though that might mean I am unfair right now to him. I'll go and reread your posts up to now after this post. For now though, I am putting you on yellow

Mattimeo: No read on him at all. Has he posted anything significant? With slowcheetah I felt I might have overlooked something. In Mattemeos case I am pretty sure I didn't and he really didn't bring anything to the table yet.

Injera: I have played with him as a wolf and I don't feel he acts like that time. Though he is one of those I might put back to Blue or even Yellow in a heartbeat (or rather due to one single bad post). I'd hope he can do some more to show he is really into the game.

Bobchillingworth: I really have the feeling what he posts he does post to help the village. Simple as that.

Pindicator: I'm missing the helpful. I mean we have generally an awful low amout of posts considering how many players are involved but for Pindicator I can't even remember anything special. More like the opposite, I felt not helped by some of his posts.

novice: I believe him to be a wolf.

Maniac: Not helpful at all up to now imo.

BrickAstley: See Maniac. Too many players not really putting in effort, I hope that will change in the next days. Even if you are wrong it doesn't matter, post your thoughts. It will help get a read on you and as a villager thats exactly what is needed in order not to get mislynched.

Qgqqqqq: See the other two above

Okay, back to novice. I know that the first question will be "Why do you believe him do be a wolf?". Well, some small leads + feelings how he acts now and how he acted in other games.

1.) He starts the game with a response to a joke-vote from pindicator with

Quote:I know, and I can't even prove my innocense anymore by lynching scum.

Of course joking back. But why can't he prove his innocence by lynching scum? Yes, yes, it is a joke. But ask yourself as villager, would you write "I can't prove my innocence by lynching scum"? I wouldn't, because a) I can and b) someone might take that - especially on Day 1 - as an invitation to try to lynch me. We have lynched players for less on Day 1 (heck, we lynched them on Day 3 and beyond for less). It just seems for me like a wolf who wanted to start the game with a post he could always point back at and state that a wolf would surely never have started like that.

2.) He than has some posts which for me are mostly fluff. Nothing really what is insofar interesting as that we did have the name-revealing-discussion at that point between Selrahc and zak and novice didn't participate. I only realised that by reading it again. Its interesting imo, considering that he was against it after 15 players had already claimed their name. I mean why didn't he already get involved in the discussion if the topic is important for him? He posted 4 hours after zak and Selrahc talked about it - soon enough imo to at least put down a comment that you agree with zaks view or anything along those lines.

3.) Next he votes Selrahc with the reasoning that he made helpful village advice followed by meta-speculation. Because this would be pretty formularic. Now, again I only realised that when rereading it, but in this case, there was no reason to suspect Selrahc imo. Yes he made helpful villager advice - not to have a pointless rivalry. That IS helpful indeed. Nothing wrong with it. Then he speculated on meta, because we did do exactly that at that point in the thread.

To bring it to a point: He voted Selrahc by picking out one single-post of him and using that as explanation for a vote. Not a joke vote, this was meant to stick imo. I don't like that. novice is normally trying to put together a puzzle not pick out single posts just to frame someone. Even worse, he used exactly the same post from Selrahc as explanation why he asked 8 hours earlier if there are aliens in the SMAC-universe. Now, explain to me, why are you first asking a question in response to a posting that you use 8 hours later to cast a vote. Shouldn't that post have been suspicious the first time you read it, when is was so formularic?

4.) Than the Tasunke-stuff started. What I realized here is that novice was agreeing with stuff, but not bringing anything new to the table. And he often wasn't asking anything, just stating stuff. Like post 181. And when he asked (see his next post after 181 for example) it is pointless asking which can only result in meta-speculation. He doesn't seem to be really interested in answers or to find out whats going on.

5.) After some interplay with Qgqqqqq (I still can't believe that you didn't know how to make the color-tag or didn't know what a neighbour is - maybe you are both wolves and set that up so you could later bring the argument that a wolf would ask the other wolves instead of asking in the thread?), where novice was giving helpful villager advice but again didn't do anything in regards to wolf-hunting he changed his vote to thestick. I have read his explanation for why he voted thestick instead of Tasunke now several times and it still reads forced to me. Like something he had to come up with to explain his vote, not something he really believes in.

wow, and thats it for Day 1. I have mentioned already here some stuff that was simply "helpful villager advice" and even then there is nearly no content from novice. It seems like it is more but really most of it is just fluff without any meaning for the actual game.

Ok, Day 2: Even less content on actual wolf hunting. Several posts on the name-thing, one post where he agrees again with Molach on some points and votes Maniac - for really flimsy reasons. I mean we do not have much to go on all around I know. My reasons for novice aren't the greatest either and I would even be opposed to voting Maniac in itself. But the reasoning that novice provides is really not worthy of novice imo.

And finally his last post for today. Again everything wishy-washy imo. He agrees with Molach and thinks that Molach could be a villager - or a wolf (thanks, I wouldn't have assumed as much myself), he then states suspicion on slowcheetah, which he concludes with "well, he could be a wolf, but probably not". Yeah, again, we know that. Everyone could be a wolf but the probability is higher he isn't one.

Lastly, he votes zakalwe. Now, I can see why waterbat would vote zakalwe (explained by his bitterness, he might really not realize how hard we have it right now) but novice should have realized by himself that the argument isn't all that great. There is no lead at all in it, it's just a "Nobody is good at hunting wolves this game and zakalwe isn't better at it either". Thats certainly not enough to vote for him imo, especially looking at how many players we have which would make a much better vote, just because they don't even try.

Putting all that together, I obviously don't have a letter from novice where he confesses to be a wolf. But I feel that all those little things are enough that I am wary about him. And being this wary I have to notice that he has nearly to no content, despite having more posts then me. He has not helped to catch wolves (compare his posts with zaks to see the difference I'm talking about). He is just there. Active enough to not seem like a lurker but not really doing anything. I simply expect more from him. And the game being as quiet as it is this is the best I have to go on. So, novice it is.
