Okay, I'm a little freaked out and don't know what's going on. thestick is my neighbor. I've been defending him because, having been talking with him, he seems to legitimately be a frustrated villager who's been under a lot of scrutiny. And I still think he his. However, it gets weird.
Like Meiz/Tasunke, thestick knew my name while I didn't know his unnamed title. Like Tasunke, he also spontaneously offered up the fact that he had no power in addition to being a neighbor. He also asked if we were the only neighbors and speculated about about a third faction right at the start of the thread.
I was starting to trust him throughout Day 1, but when Meiz claimed I got paranoid. I imagined the possibilities of some third faction of recruiters or something. When Tasunke's role was revealed to be harmless I felt a lot better about things, though, and I started trusting him again.
Then, last night I developed a new project that was related to mind worms. And now Meiz has said he received one as well. I have no clue what to make of this.
Meiz, do you know anything more?

Pindicator had a game-wide hook? And now atrocities, extra powers, are on the table.
I really can't grasp why people think I'm a wolf. Being suspicious of Tasunke-voters instead of my own? Saying 'Tasunke's role' instead of 'role and alignment'? 'Studied uselessness?'
I hate how Lewwyn's been gunning for me, throwing votes on me with little explanation.

What I'm saying is that in the past we interpreted Tasunke's weird behavior as wolf tells when in fact they were just his personality. That's the point I was making to Mattimeo- if someone who normally contributes thoughtful stuff shows up with nothing but fluff, yeah, they're probably scum. But Tasunke has always been a little weird, and so I don't really see the book report, for example, as a wolf tell. Just an oddity.
The very first WW game I played I was completely obsessed thinking that zak as a wolf. He wasn't, and got mislynched mostly by Serdoa and I. In WW12 I accused him of a grand conspiracy with novice. He was indeed a wolf, but the conspiracy we completely and insanely wrong. I'm not really confident in my ability to read him. So, long story short, I don't have much confidence in my ability to read him.

I'm glad you asked Lewwyn about the names, as there really seems to be something going on there. Not only his Tasunke reaction, but he was the first to suggest mass claiming names, too. If he had some sort of name-seer power he would be much more subtle. Bob seems like he's either just wildly speculating, or might know something about names as well.
This a weird day with all the unvotes and no votes sticking to anyone at all. That happened last game, too, when the wolves were all "a great bunch of lurky-loos" as Molach called us. I'm not sure how relevant that is, the fact that we have so many new players this time around might be more the cause.

The whole 'one neighbors' thing was just based off of the title of this thread, that and (as far as I know) there's usually only one set of Masons. Maybe Bigger just has multiple threads titled 'Neighbors' or it's something different.
I asked Bigger, there aren't any listeners besides the GMs (Bigger and Mardoc).

All the thread shenanigans were really fun last game so my gut instinct is that Bigger probably put something else "neighborly" in some form or another. Probably not the exact same as us, though. Maybe like a lap-top that gets passed around, or something one-way, etc. Or maybe we have a listener like pindicator last game.
Bigger said only one pack somewhere in the sign-up thread I think. With how much we've talked about arsonists/serial killers in prior games I wouldn't be surprised if we finally see one show up in this game. One's gotta show up eventually.

We caught a couple of wolves right off the bat in that game and then it just became a matter of getting everyone to role claim and mop-up work. It was a let-down after awesome start, especially once I realized our early great catches had a lot to do with wolves wanting to catch wolves, too.

Wait to see who looks like they're parking an 'easy' vote? As long as we make sure that I don't start attracting villagers (the Tasunke lynch), sure, why not. Hopefully I'll be able to defend myself...
...in retrospect, outlining the case AGAINST myself might not have been the best idea.

Thanks, nice to know someone doesn't think I'm a wolf.
It's weird how the people who suspect me then die, first Catwalk (admittedly, it was a weak suspicion), then pindicator, who was squeezing me dry all night.

Serdoa can't determine roles? It actually makes some sense. novice knows alignment, what he's interested in is power roles, so his scan provides night actions. Serdoa just wants alignment, so that's all Bigger gives him.

About the workers - I bet if there are more worker(s) they probably have a different powers, so that way no one can guess if one of them gets revealed.

Game Thread:
"Some will be faction leaders, some talents (thinker, engineer, empath, etc.), drones, workers, etc. The latter are not extras but an important part of the game."

When he reaffirmed his vote on you he qualified it, and tried to make it sort of a "personal feeling"- that is, he's not trying to convince anyone else to join him, or working up a bigger case against you. If anything, he's scummy for vote-parking.

Oh, it's fine. I literally just responded.

Morning! Getting caught up on the thread. I don't think the names will matter too much in terms of helping out the wolves pick targets (look at us, worker and faction leader.) I think the real danger is that someone reads too much into one, makes a bad accusation, and then it becomes a safe haven for wolves.

I'm worried about atrocities, personally.
I'm REALLY hoping that I'll get a night action at some point. To quote:
"There are no vanilla villagers, although some will lack power roles on day 1."
If being in a QuickTopic counts as a 'role,' oh well. If it doesn't, I hope that I'll gain one. Thing is, nothing is mentioned about gaining additional abilities in my PM. Either it's secret or I don't get any. Maybe I'm just being greedy.

I think we can safely assume the NAP members are randomly selected from all the characters Bigger is using. Tying the alignments to anything flavor-specific would be a big no-no: figure out the pattern, mass claim, win.
What I'm really wondering about is that non-denial and the promised "secret plots"... there are a lot of interesting possibilities there.

I'm pretty sure Bigger didn't explicitly state how many wolfpacks there were. It was heavily implied to be only one in the setup. It's one, I guess.

It's more that I'm just not going to say anything about my power or lack thereof until I feel like I can trust you a bit more. Nothing personal.

Yeah, Bigger said there are no vanilla villagers, which made me think back to WW12. We caught a couple of wolves right off the bat in that game and then it just became a matter of getting everyone to role claim and mop-up work. It was a let-down after awesome start, especially once I realized our early great catches had a lot to do with wolves wanting to catch wolves, too.
I may or may not have another power, but if I do it's that if a wolf tries to eat me then the wolves lose the game.

I know I looked up my character, but I've never played SMAC so it there's not a whole lot to work with except for some "Space God" stuff. I'll try to work a little in. I think it should be a good game, though the "everyone has a power" games are tricky to balance. I trust Bigger has thought that through, though. Mostly I'm just relieved to not be a wolf again and being able to sit back and enjoy things for a change.
