Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

After this, can we get a formal diplo team together since we lost Kyan? This stuff shouldn't be discussed between 80 of us, diplo is too time sensitive and requires a lot of finesse. We should have somewhere in the vicinity of two to five of us working on it and then present it to the team at large for final approval, with the diplo team heads having full approval to act quickly if necessary (i.e. when CFC has a warrior that could seriously jack up our micro just outside our borders.)
I don't know what peoples availability for this is but scooter and Ruff are decent starts. I'd like to see at least one European on the team as well for matters of nuance with language. I'm willing if needed.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

The CFC warrior will most likely move W this turn. I'd like to hear more on asking them not to move NW west on the hill SE-SE of our capital. Kalin kalin Wrote:I agree, thanks for sending. I don't like making those kind of requests because it suggests fear. When someone says something to me like that, I just read it as "my capital is exposed" which is usually pretty accurate. I can see disagreement on this, but I'm a believer in just acting like it's no big deal. I'd also like to avoid asking a favor on this so we don't feel as bad asking for favors later. If we can cover the capital ourselves (we can), that seems preferable to me. However, if they respond quickly and confirm that NAP, I don't necessarily see a problem with making that request. Similar to Shoot's suggestion, there's always room for follow-up comments in future messages. Gaspar Wrote:After this, can we get a formal diplo team together since we lost Kyan? Yep, I'm willing to work on the diplo team. My availability is pretty high - I already have forwarding set up so if we get an email it comes to my email, meaning it'll come in on my phone immediately - so I'll get this stuff quickly even when I'm not at a computer. scooter Wrote:I don't like making those kind of requests because it suggests fear. Yes, it conveys some weakness, but would you take a bet and risk upsetting the other team for maybe nothing? I would bet on them not wanting to take that risk (of upsetting us). I think it would be a difficult situation for them: "Hi, let's be friends and have a NAP." "OK, let's do that. Since now we are friends can you please not move there?" More to the point I think someone needs to head it. I think that probably should be you but if you'd rather not we can open it to the crowd but much like turn-player, I think head diplomat is an important distinction. I'm willing but I think my diplo style is a bit more... eccentric than the crowd here will appreciate so I think you make a best choice.

Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

I sometimes have trouble thinking of the right word for the right audience (ie trash can / rubbish bin). Good to see it sent and happy to support Scooter in the diplo trenches. I too have the rb gmail account auto forwarding to my gmail account.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I'd be willing to take the lead, and I'd definitely want a couple other people helping out. Ruff and Gaspar would both be great and any others who enjoy this sort of thing. We have some people listed on the first post of this thread, but I'm not sure that it's a very accurate post given how long ago that was and how much turnover we've had, so I'd consider this a fresh start. Continuing this diplo-by-mass-committee style won't work all that well, so it's nice to get organized here.
