MoM Resolution

What is the correct, original screen resolution for MoM? I want to set DOSbox so it's corrctly proportioned.

The fireball on the SIMTEX logo when it loads is oval in mine, but it is round in the "Let's Play on Impossible with Kyrub's mod" videos. So I either need to make it less high or wider.


PS what is Kyrubs mod? I have MoM 2 but at the moment I am playing with 1.31 and Insecticide 1.4f.

VGA 320x200

320X200!?

My monitor is 16:10, and I was using

fullresolution=1920x1200
windowresolution=1680x1050

and the logo is oval, but the unit tiles are square, so I must have it right after all!

The original resolution is indeed 320x200.
But at that time pixels weren't square, but slightly narrowed.
This is noticeable for instance by the fact that terrain tiles are 20x18 pixels and unit tiles are 18x16 pixels.

So to get the proper ratio to get circles instead of ovals I think you would need a resolution of about 360x200.
However, that will makes your pixels look really ugly since they won't properly fit on the pixels of your screen.

You might try a resolution of 1920x1067 or something...

"Kyrub's mod" IS Insecticide, which is up to 1.40n at this writing. Might be a good idea to update your patch - AI is less dumb, and more bugfixes.

Yeah, I got crushed twice in a row by 1412, but finally managed to build my Empire and laid waste to all mine enemies! It's 1458 and I'm ready to cast the Spell of Mastery!

Only on Normal, though...
