WW16: The Outlaws and The Olives

All right Novice- let's go over day 1 voting again. Do you want me to write it out or copy and paste from the 4 or 5 times I've already responded about it? It's not terribly clever or complicated though so I don't mind writing it, especially since I have time now and before I was typing from my phone while at work and near the deadline.

First off, here is Sareln's post where he lays out Day 1.

Here's the part that I entirely agree with:

Sareln Wrote:Villagers on him only know that Mattimeo has claimed cloaker. And then theStick claims watcher. So what do we do? Clearly we shouldn't stay on Mattimeo. Even if he's lying, it's just too risky a possibility to lynch any village protective role on day 1. What about lynching theStick? That might be solid if he's lying, but once again, if he's telling the truth we're lynching a villlage information role on day 1. Also pretty damn bad. Also, theStick has a pretty strong lead, maybe he's telling the truth and any wolves on him are going to stick and get that anti-village mislynch in.

Because it's exactly how I was feeling. This sentiment was agreed upon by Catwalk and Rowain, and to be honest reading those posts strengthened the feeling of cold feet I had.

So I voted off thestick, and Sareln goes on to discuss this with the next paragraph:

Quote:So both wolves and villagers, if they're thinking clearly, see that there are only two options left for their votes at end of day. Either theStick or Bigger (the one with the 3rd place vote total).

Disagree with this. I didn't want to be wrong about lynching a power role, and when I reviewed Bigger's posts in day 1, I thought they looked good. I said so then, I say so now, and I even voted him mayor in Day 2 because of it. We've already covered how I just chafe the villager's chonies by not picking for either side when, so I'll try not to do that in the future actually, that was a good point by someone about how it doesn't help the team by not choosing - but I will reserve that there are times where it is helpful. Remember that whole bull in a china shop mentality from WW14? It hasn't changed all that much.

Anyway, I got cold feet and was when i saw Merovech's "i want to pressure Bigger" post, that looked incredibly forced so he got my vote. It's very possible it was a case of me just grabbing the first thing I could find, because I had 10 minutes to make a choice and felt very much under the gun.

Here's the thing that gets me though: if I was a freaking wolf, the wolves could have saved thestick. He votes Bigger, I vote Bigger and the both of us live another day. Oh, you will probably counter that I have heavy suspicion when Bigger turns village? I was getting suspicion either way; if I wanted to avoid suspicion I wouldn't have moved my vote.*

I'm happy to answer questions, now that I am typing from a keyboard and have time (as opposed to defending from work on my phone with a deadline looming).

*That's it, isn't it? The wolves didn't switch votes at the end, to avoid suspicion.

Why didn't thestick vote Bigger? He just throws suspicion on him, but no vote. It's a question i haven't seen answered satisfactorily. If he was just overloaded, why bother to accuse Bigger and say he's looking suspicious? You can't say thestick wasn't a team player there because if he wasn't a team player it'd be total shut down. He wouldn't even both to cast suspicion on Bigger. So the wolves either ALL shifted to Bigger and were waiting for one more to join them so thestick could swap -- no, that's stupid; thestick should have been the first to switch because a self preservation vote is never doubted -- or none of the Bigger switchers are wolves because the wolves decided to let thestick go and try to cast doubt on the late day switchers / gain village cred. Early day Bigger voters could still be wolves if this were the case, but after the reveal ... but why would they switch if he doesn't vote? Maybe that theory doesn't hold up either, I'll have to look back at the end of Day 1 as well.

Saving my thoughts on Merovech's smoke move and what that implies until I can do a re-read of the whole day. Initial thoughts are 1 of 2 scenarios:

1) 2 Villagers on the block mean the only noise until Merovech's dumb-ass move was likely village noise.
2) Catwalk is still potentially guilty as there was still plenty of movement before Merovech did his lemming impression.

Bonus Rant: Merovech, did I mention what you did was really really stupid? Next time you want to troll a game, just self vote day 1 and spare us all a wasted day.

Last time I stay up til after sunrise for the deadline...

Catwalk is still my number 1 target and in hindsight I really regret switching off him, but damn that role reveal looked dodgy.

I'm getting village reads on enough people that it's getting hard to fit six wolf suspects.

Something like
Thestick, Lewwyn, Ichabod, Rowain/Qgqqq, Azza/Tasunke, Selrach/Molach/Arromir would work though.

If we have a protector he should protect Uberfish.
I have to run.

Heading to bed but I'm probably going to take a more passive approach to the night tonight. I think I probably did the day harm by having so much of my reads come out at night, even if it does help me codify my thoughts without there being quite so much chatter.

I personally have a lot of mixed reads at the moment - lot of players are in the "could be villager playing bad, could be scum" bucket and a lot are in the "could be solid village, could be scum playing a blinder" bucket. I think this is partly because I haven't done any kind of job of catherding. Where's zak when you need him? Village needs a resurrect spell.

Anyway, to unfluff, I've read uber as village all along but he's probably lynchable enough that I'd still protect novice if I had the ability to do so.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
