On the one hand, it would be irrational to give up any shot at winning* just because someone annoyed us, but on the other hand, I feel like we owe it to the metagame.
*clearly we're not doing that, but you get my point

Besides, we can just tell them to stop being irrational if they want to punish us for our pink dot...

I think that's fine, though, if we go for this plan.
Also, our current build in Blood Mary should be a warrior, so it upgrades to a spear in the queue.

It'll also give you the chance to come up with several more funny memeshots, that's worth the price of admission right there . If this game was uber competitive I'd probably have a different opinion, but with several balance issues (e.g. two teams checking out) I think the right play here is to go for something fun.

Except I don't necessarily think it's giving up on winning at all ... if we pull this off then we have more land than our "fair share" and doesn't that put us in a better longer term position than if we play conservatively? I mean given we're going to have to spend a lot of time/hammers on defence whatever we do coz TEAM are pissing about, so we may as well use them to grab all of TEAM's land on our side as well.
If we're doing it, I guess we need to send something militaryish up there to have a look in advance in case TEAM settled somewhere that cuts us off.
On a related note, given the Pirates clearly got in bed with TEAM a while ago - do we actually want to try & buddy up to Menagerie once we meet them and plan longer term to gang up on Gillette (if we can only get that far)?

I guess that is probably our only way to win, yeah. Though I guess a more likely outcome is that TEAM and Gillette will gang up on us.
It's possible to settle on top of the gold on turn 51 if the roading worker pair starts by going S->SE->E, but no strong units besides (possibly) our existing axe will be able to make it up there by then. At least not if we wait until Blood Mary hits size 3 before building another unit.
If you know what I mean.

Ok, I managed to get the pink dot settled on the gold on t51 with a spear in place on the turn of founding. (In addition, hopefully, to our existing axe.)
The trick is to build a spear ASAP out of Blood Mary. Set it immediately to build a warrior, and max research on hunting. Work the sheep on t42 and t43, and work the copper on t44 and t45. The warrior turns into a spear and completes with the help of a chop on t46, just in time to be on the gold on t51. Work the sheep on t46 to grow, work the sheep and copper on t47, and then finally switch to working the sheep and cow on t48, growing to size 3 in three more turns.
Meanwhile, one worker zips off to improve the pigs, two workers start roading as before, and the fourth worker does the following dance:
1. Move to the cow and pasture for 1 turn. 2. Move east and chop the forest, completing on t45. 3. Move back to the cow and complete the pasture.
If we want to go for this plan:
- Switch to Hunting and a Warrior build.
- Move one worker SW-SW and pasture for one turn.
- Move one worker to west of the capital (wasting a turn).
- Move two workers S-SE-E and road.
If you know what I mean.

I chatted with Plako, maybe we want to settle C2 in this picture first, and then settle on the gold next.
Seems like a slightly less suicidal plan. The city will give us a commanding presence in the region.
Note: In the real game there is no forest 2N of C2.
I have to run.

Settling on the gold is troll behavior, all right
We can also settle 1S if we want to, you know, actually work the gold. We don't really lose anything by moving C1 and F.

That C2 site looks alright, we should be able to get an axe out of Bloody Mary to clear the way, and then road the city tile and the three tiles SW of it (in the opposite order). That lets the settler from Caipirinha settle two turns after it's built.
I like it.
