Well, if you are a villager and neither of us are lynched today something like this could work. You protect me tonight. Crucially, though, you flip a coin and protect yourself if it turns up heads.

The wolves would have to risk a 50-50 shot if they go for either of us, which would be risky. If we both live through the night, I can tell you what you did confirming me, and there's a 50% chance you protected me, in which case I could confirm you.

This is the test originally proposed.
I don't fully understand the meaning of the "I can tell you what you did confirming me" sentence, rest is clear. And would work.

But why not suggest Matt 50-50 protect Injera or 'someone else' (which might be himself but at lower odds)?

1) You would not be able to confirm his power is legitimate, only that is called "cloaking"
2) He would not be able to confirm your power
3) Even if he could confirm your power, that does nothing whatsoever to prove you're innocent

Right. Confirming powers != confirming alignment. However a lot of the suspicion on Mattimeo, comes from whether the power is legitimate based on the name.

How do you distinguish between mattimeo cloackig him self and doing nothing?

You can't, but it's giving a chance for him to prove his power if he's a villager.

@pind, Matt cloaking himself block actions. So Injera would get "failed" or "used ability" results

But... novice just said that GMs don't differentiate between "failed" and "no read"

And Qgqqqqq said he had gotten no reads on two of his tests (Mattimeo day 1, Novice day 2)

So what doesn't fit?

At that point the village wasn't hell-bent on lynching a claimed power role. It is now.

Injera, his ability may well be called cloaking and do something else. My suspicion on Mattimeo does not hinge on what his ability is named, to me that says nothing at all. If the only thing your test shows is the name of his ability, I see no value in it. I think it's merely distracting us at this point, and there's only 45 minutes left.

Im willing to bow to the idea that we have 2 village roles at play. A bit mistified at the timing of Qgqqqqqqq's reveal - but the confusion that has come as a result hasn't really cleared that up for me.

Because they could just eat him. About the confirming of my power, I wouldn't know whom he protected (himself or someone else) except by use of my power, so if I was lying I would have to make a coin flip guess to avoid being caught.
