[SPOILERS] Dazed and scooter play Stalin of Vikings and make a big mess

Xenu - the main problem is he'll have Rifles everywhere after that, at which point Rifle-on-Rifle action is just OK and not great. We'll see though, not ruling anything out... I just hit diminishing returns pretty quickly, especially since Krill is more likely to be friendly if I maintain the buffer.

So Nakor responded to my war declaration with a rejection of a generous peace deal and....... two whips? Brick whipped heavier with 1/4th of the number of cities and 1/10th the amount of pop. Only thing I can figure is he wasn't building military anywhere at all so he didn't want to swap from infra and dry whip stuff. Regoarrarr did trade him something though, I'm sure that's Chemistry. Yay. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. I mean, I guess if they're going to trade it to me might as well offer everyone, so not a major scummy move compared to some of their other actions... Just annoying. If he can't work out a deal with Krill this turn, then I'll try to broker it to Krill on the cheap just to get the message across that I am still unamused by their actions. tongue

Plus I'm wanting to get Krill to be happy with me so he doesn't prop up Nakor. Or something. Oh who am I kidding, I'm basically just THROWING THINGS at the metaphorical wall right now and hoping something vaguely resembles a sticky substance.

Been thinking about this more lately, and my endgame is basically this: I want to be the clear #3 and own the Pacific in such a way that I'm an attractive ally to both Krill and Regopin. If I'm #3, I'm useful against both of them, but neither of them will have a lot of motivation to hit me because it just means they waste time against me while their rival strengthens. If I maneuver carefully, I can ensure survival and usefulness. If I do all that and manage to finish comfortably on the podium, I'll call this game an enormous success. This heavily hinges on Nakor being reduced to barely relevant AKA Commodore-without-the-military status. That would reduce relevant techers to myself, Krill, and Regopin. If 2/3 can manage to lock the other out, that's trouble for that person. This is all a bit theoretical and may never come to pass, but I need to plan accordingly anyways. I'm sort of hoping Krill dusts off Azza quickly and sizes up Nakor next, which would help things fall into place very nicely.

Also, I have that giant bankroll, so I'm going to upgrade all my caravels to frigates now. That'll squeeze Nakor too - maybe he'll be more willing to hand over cities when I'm blockading him to death. Thankfully I JUST got iron from Brick's former capital - I've gone without all game. smile

Great reporting.

40 minutes is nothing, though. I'm pretty sure I was spending a couple of hours a night when I took over PBEM23.
And on the sixth day, god created Manchester.

Well, I'm talking 40 minutes to login and execute the turn. I easily spent at least that much time planning the turn before I logged in and played it. I was logged in before the turn rolled going over all my launch point signs and determining exactly what I would do and all that. The only unexpected thing to come up was the Rego trade. A couple hours is actually a pretty good estimate of what planning and executing last turn was like, though I expect the norm to be much less. I actually just played another turn in 40 minutes, but it's "just" 40 minutes this time. smile

Though I think it's safe to say your PBEM23 war was sliiiiightly more insane than this one crazyeye... I'll also never forget the novice "...and then I played with my kids" post.

Heh yeah, those couple of weeks (or whatever it was) pretty much completed total burnout on Civ for me. I've barely played it since (and certainly not in the last couple of months at least).

When I finished the turns in the evening, my daughter had been in bed for hours!

I wasn't around much when that game was going on - I came back as it was wrapping up... Plowed through that thread in about a week - crazy game.

I do have pictures sitting from yesterday's turn. I'm going to put those together now. Since then Nakor has rejected peace again and whipped 6 times. That's more like it! Well, it's possible he fired a GA with his engineer and drafted some too, but who knows. I'll find out later I guess.

Ok. I took only one city this turn. Here's the attack:

I believe I lost this first attack and then easily won the next two.

I'm going to push a little at Nakor's western cities as these crappy northern ones can wait a little because he'll be unable to reinforce those. I'll have a follow-up wave coming anyways:

I have a CR2 Rifle on Irene. I'll drop off the worker/settler pair, pick it up, and then go join in on the north cities. Anyways, I'm pressuring his south Watson cities:

I actually killed the top unit here. The rest of my Rifles were unable to attack as I loaded some fresh ones from Moriarty (the island east of Watson). I'm setting myself up to fork as many cities as possible, and I'm bringing along Caravels to use as scouts. The westernmost Galleon can hit 3 cities, the other just 2. Well, it can also do 3 if you count Point Break. Also, in the north:

That Galleon can also hit Castle Humbris along with Scooters. So we'll just see what he decides to defend. He'll have some Rifles of course, but there's no way for him to defend all of these. I can also login this turn to see which of these cities he whipped, so I'll know where the Rifles are. This is why it's difficult for him:

He chose to defend this city, so... I'm just ignoring it. The Hilleast region:

I'll probably just heal up here while I wait for the second wave. I then tried to swing a couple trades:

I was wrong when I said I had Iron. It's on a tile of Brick's former capital that he still controls frown. I'll get it back once his new capital goes down, but I could really use 10T of Iron so I can upgrade some Caravels -> Frigates and really make things difficult for Nakor. Also offered this:

Pretty sure from Civstats that he accepted this. The gold may let me turn down my culture slider. Also, my peace offer was a touch more aggressive this time:

Still though, I only asked for cities that he either 1) Can't reinforce or 2) I can hit next turn with significant force. I would entertain a counter-offer, but he seems uninterested in sending one. I wish you could have a two-sided peace deal. I would've happily thrown in a couple techs, but there's no way to communicate that to him. The joys of AI Diplo. smile

why didn't you raze hilleast?
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Not enough time to raze and replace that whole island really. I still need to finish colonizing Irene, and I need to do it quickly because the western continent folks will start screwing around with Galleon settling parties if I'm not careful. Plus it had useful buildings in it... It would probably take something like 25+ turns for me to get a settler up there and then get the buildings + pop to get to this point, and I don't want to bother with a 25T delay.

Something fun I just noticed. So awhile back I sold a tech to Azza for 40gpt. Well... he definitely forgot about that, and I'm still getting 40gpt from him like clockwork. Kinda funny. I'll be sad when he dies as then I'll have to say goodbye to my free gold every turn.

Good MP strategy: sell flat-cost things to people who aren't paying attention in return for GPT. They might just forget about it. smile
