Assassin in the Palace (WW minigame)

The Good King Wincas' lass was a wicked, wicked girl. She slew her elder brother on his tenth birthday by poison, and killed her younger brother at the age of three by drowning, and never was she caught. Now she is eighteen, and has bewitched all the king's horses and all the king's men...but King Wincas, last of all around him, has finally awoken to the danger. He has hired out mercenaries and retreated to his hunting lodge, taking on the identity of one of the mercenary company, and as heros work to overthrow his daughter, these guards are Good King Wincas' last hope. Now nothing could possibly go wrong...

...and then, one of the mercenaries was murdered.

The game itself is very simple. There are only 3 roles, and everybody will know what those roles are before the game. There are no night phases, as scum only has one kill that he can use whenever he wants. I think we can easily adapt it to RB tradition by having a 24 hour day phase before lynch, with day 2 starting as soon as day 1 ends.

Its a little bit of a reversal from ww, in that the town has all the "inside" information, and scum is in the dark. The roles:

1 assasin (the only scum)
You are the assassin. You have infiltrated the castle guard and are charged with attempt to kill the king. Victory is yours when the king is dead. At any point during the game (including immediately after your lynch), you may PM me the name of a player whom you wish to kill in a suicide attack. This attack will kill you and end the game.

You win when the king is dead, regardless of whether you are dead or alive.

1 king (town)
You are the king. You know that everyone else is not the king. However, there is an assassin who is trying to kill you. Your goal is not to let that happen.

You win when the assassin is dead and has used his kill and you still live.

Everyone else is a guard

You are a guard, charged to protect King ________. Your job would be too easy if there weren't an assassin trying to eliminate your poor king. You don***8217;t want that to happen, of course. You'd be out of a job.

You win when the assassin is dead and has used his kill and the king is still alive.

so basically a person is lynched every day until the assassin is caught and hangs. Then the assassin is able to use his one kill (yes he can use it even after he dies) - if he hits the king, he wins. Technically the assassin can use his kill at any moment (even in the middle of a day) if he is confident he knows who the king is.

You arrive at the hunting lodge, exhausted and smelling of horse. After a long night where you slept like a baby (tired, fussy, and hungry), your temper is up and you know someone is going to hang today.

Sleeping like a Baby is such a oft misused phrase. This guard has a baby on the way though, so I need to live to see him and we need to kill this assassin stat.

uberfish, you have such an unpronounceable last name. Sounds suspicious, no? :neenernee

Brick, do you not know that votes go in red and not bold? Or was that a slip of somebody who is trying hard to act like a guard and did it wrong??

AGH after making fun for screwing up the vote, I went and did it myself lol. Brick

so I didn't want to discuss strategy too much in the sign-up thread, but now seems appropriate:

Guards (and king) please keep in mind that the most important thing is to keep the assasin from figuring out who the king is. Killing the assasin is slightly less important. Even if we lynch the assasin on day 1 we can still lose if he knows who the king is. Just be smart, if you see an assasin tell that would probably give away the king, maybe keep it to yourself =).

no hammer-votes here Brick, we might as well just put uberfish in red
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

No it's okay, I didn't mean to vote, that's why it was in bold. I was just trying to generate discussion without throwing out stupid votes at the start that don't mean anything. However, that IS something that our friend Scooter here is doing. Anxious to start getting rid of guards to find that king sooner, are you?
