Assassin in the Palace (WW minigame)

zakalwe Wrote:Bigger, got any other suspicions that you want to share?

hmm, well I have been thinking about this, actually. I don't like the "if you are voted for self-vote and every day we pick someone at semi-random and everyone piles on." Too "random luck" for my tastes. But I get it.

The fishing for information is interesting. on the one hand, it is suspicious since its the assasin that needs information the most. That's why I suspect Brick and Zakalwe the most, I guess for the same reason so many people suspect me. OTOH, its a perfect opportunity for some WIFOM screwing with the assasin - a strong guard might be more confident in his ability to get information leading to the assasin without giving away who the king is. (that has certainly been my opinion of myself). Of course, those less confident of there own deducation and less careful with their words might be more afraid of slipping up and want a random lynch.

I've come to this conclusion (especially if we ever play this again): A good guard strategy is to put accusations out there, maybe even sling dirt on whoever he can, but not to respond to any accusations or present any kind of defense. Then each guard and the king can vote his own conscience without needing to necessarily explain his vote in detail. So rather than shut up I'll keep playing (certainly not going to self-vote, don't like Matt's play at all), but I'm not going to stress out to much if I get lynched.

My top 3 suspects among active participants are Brick, Zakalwe, and uberfish. I'm hoping the last 2 are innocents as I'm sure they can figure out the assasin quickly should I be lynched. Uberfish's play is actually quite interesting for the WIFOM element - but since he set it up pre-game it would be quite easy to continue even as the assasin.

My fear is the assasin is being crafty and semi-lurking (i.e. either Slowcheetah or Serdoa) and just hoping a lot of people die before him making his win easier. hmm, thats a lot of suspects though and I would rather go after Brick.

I can't see why you'd sign up for the game and then vote to kill yourself. Unless you are actually the assassin playing a (probably ill-advised) double bluff.

Slowcheetah, for justifying his vote.

Oh wait.
If you know what I mean.

Zakalwe, just because.

zakalwe Wrote:Uberfish, how would you play this as an assassin?

If I was the assassin I wouldn't have claimed to be the king, so that the castle would read me as pro-castle because they'd think I was pretending to be the king because I was too scared to follow through on my pregame statement that I'd claim to be the king.

Also I'd ask people questions about what they'd do if they were an assassin.

So basically you suspect everyone in the game? Do you think we learned anything from Mattimeo's death?

I was thinking about this, and I think the answer is no. Obviously we knew he was not the king, but it was pretty likely he wasn't the assassin either. However, because he basically outed himself as "not the king" we had no choice but to lynch him. This game is weird, and I'm not sure I like it. I've bitten my tongue several times already for fear of eliminating people as possible kings.

no, I pretty much agree with Scooter. ^^.

Well, I don't suspect the king! Honestly, though, I've flipped a bit. My reasoning on Brick and Zak is perhaps a bit weak, I'm still trying to figure out what real scum tells are in this game. I think if I was assasin I would probably be as silent as I could get away with, would prefer just to live as long as possible rather than risk giving myself away by fishing for clues.

I think the assassin is just trying to blend in, taking advantage of the pregame discussion that speculated that random bandwagoning was a good strategy. No one speaking up against Mattimeo's lynch is slight evidence in favour of that theory, because the assassin didn't try to appear pro-castle by arguing for Matt's innocence.

So my guess is the assassin has so far played towards the passive side of the passive-active spectrum. Being the king, I read scooter's comment above as somewhat guard-ish.
