Seems impossible to try without randomizing the turn order and throwing timezones to the wind. Depends on if you want to sacrifice speed of the game for anonymity.

Well, there is always the 4% chance that the randomized turn order for these four players results in exactly the most convenient time zones for everyone. Way to throw cold water on my idea, Scooter! Can anyone think of a way around this problem? Obviously for turn 0 it won't matter who starts (who is player 0, that is), but the time zones thing is a dead giveaway....

Note: do not suggest simultaneous turn pitboss!

Yeah sorry. This suggestion comes up roughly once every 9 games here, and there's nearly always a litany of reasons why it won't work. There's less problems here than normal though. It really only works well in a live online game.

I guess the only fix for that would have been to have anonymous signups as well, and let the game sponsor announce the playing slots after receiving the players' availability. And then do the whole anonymous civ/leader selection process. If someone wants to do all that to get an actual anonymous game (and the players didn't give it away in game) maybe it would work out for a future game.

this would also require no one making lurker threads, which would be boring .

Private subforums would do the trick, just make the players the only forum members/visitors who can't see the subforums. Simultaneous pitboss...no! My life was overtaken by the clock. No matter where I was, or what I was doing, the clock was omnipresent, ticking, ticking, you can hear it through the walls, it comes from under the floor, and if you haven't played your turn yet it won't let you sleep! You are not the master of a pitboss, it is the pitboss that masters you!

(OK so I know it can be done right, see PB5, but the ticking clock really did bother me. I'd say having a teammate is a requirement for pitboss play, unless you can play a turn at almost any time, have a really long turn timer, or you have good rules about double moving...aaaaaaaahhhhh it burns!!!!)
