Intro - Sareln

Hello All.
I figured it would be polite to introduce myself before I started posting in earnest.
I have followed the RBCiv succession games and community with great interest the past couple years (has it really been that long?) and have begun to follow your community's other gaming forays as well. Now that I've polished off the last of my college applications, and am well into the senior year of high school, I believe I can actually start participating; in both discussions and gaming.
I've actually been holding off on this step for a while, mainly because of all the various other things going on in real life.
So with that little introduction, you know me, I already know some of you through your various adventures (or should I say misadventures?), and I look forward to spending a little (or a lot) of time w/ the community.

On an aside, I've not seen much mention of an RBCiv succession run on the Sengoku Conquest, I'm a bit of a japanophile so who should I talk to/bug to get the ball rolling?

Heya

Thanks for the intro, it's so very good to see someone from the RB(x) coming out to join the greater community now and then.

Welcome (officially) and enjoy your stay.

There's the RBCiv Conquests SG discussion thread over at CivFanatics, where the RB crowd organized the Conquest games. There would be a good place to start, although romeothemonk from CFC failed recently to get enough signups for the WWII scenario. It looks like most civers are burnt out on the game, although it might have also been that specific scenario that nobody wanted to play.

But when I started to organize the last RBCiv game, a lot of people mentioned problems with the Japan scenario and so the Napoleonic one was played instead. You might read about this near the end of the above mentioned thread, if you like.

All other Conquest games have been organized by Charis, but I daresay it's really, really hard to track him down and persuade him to organize another game. Not impossible, since he had resurfaced once before after a break, but I seriously doubt it. (Somehow, Kurgan's words in "Highlander" come to mind: "It's better to burn out than to fade away!" lol )

Apart from that, I hope you can be talked to/bugged to play the next Epic? tongue

* Note to the admins: This normal smiley is awful - why does it have to be wide-eyed? Couldn't we get the old one back? Please? Pretty Please? wink

Hello and welcome Sareln. It appears as though you are familiar with some of us although we do not know you as yet. Unfortunately, as Kylearan said, interest in Civ3 at the moment is at a low tide. As much fun as I had playing Civ3 over the years, I must confess that at the moment I do not have any real desire to start up a new game. Nonetheless, it shouldn't be too hard to find some other players at CivFanatics for a succession game. I'm not familiar with the current state of the SenGoku Conquest, but it was amazingly buggy during testing (invisible units = problems). Again, welcome, it's always good to see new faces. thumbsup

Welcome! You don't have to be crazy to like it here...

But it helps!

Yes, the wide-eyed one may have its place smile but we are already wacky enough as a community without validating and reinforcing that image to the world every time we break out a smile.

Gris? Please fix the smilie for us. [Image: smile.gif]

Danke.

Having run a SG of this scenario the real problem is the Yamabushi (sp?). It is an very over powered unit. Once in play every AI civ is pillaged out of existence.

As the human player we had to keep a front line wall with every square covered to avoid our production being destroyed. The Yama is to fast, hard to kill, and the AI is very effective with using them to pillage.

hmm, I see where you're coming from on that, I was actually playing through Sengoku on Emperor (Mori), and for my first war, I got bit badly by those yamabushis --> the solution I ended up using was a line of my own about 2 squares deep into my border, since they're 2.5.2 (ATAR) the AI almost never uses them to attack, and they don't need roads, so my road crews repaired the damage as I advanced.
On that note, I haven't seen the AI pillaged out of existance, but I have seen the pollution in the area not under my dominion get quite bad... maybe WWII then, but there is just something about Samurai...

Hello SareIn! smile I'm glad you decided to de-lurk, and I hope we'll meet in-game at some point!

PS to all- "Regular" smiley is up, thanks for the reminder (and the link, btw). I added a couple more fun ones, too, just because. :wakka: 3)
