Assassin in the Palace (WW minigame)

BRickAstley Wrote:On that note, any advice criticism on the game style if we do another one?Possible changes to the gameplay?

more players would help. Was also thinking this for a tiebreaking mechanic:

King is never lynched in a tie. Guards are lynched before assassin in a tie. If two guards are up, coin flip it.

That allows the villagers to be a little more daring to give the king cover, while also protecting the assassin a bit to compensate.

FWIW, I do believe in my comments that in the first couple days it's best to just lynch people who are obviously not king. Lynching Serdoa was clearly the best town move IMO, it was really obvious to me he wasn't king. In a world where I didn't try that stuff at the end, Bigger would've been an ideal lynch today, because he was the only one who could not have possibly been king. That would've taken me into tomorrow no further at all and it would've been even harder to hide.

I don't know if I would play this format again or not, though I'm curious what it would be like as town. After playing, I don't think I buy the notion that talking is always bad for the town. If the town thinks it through and talks enough (which given the way we play at RB, that's easy), there does come a point where the noise ends up making it harder to king hunt, and gives you more opportunities to slip.

I suspected scooter from the end of day 3, after the zak case it was 80/20 on scooter/bigger as assassin and Scooter's reaction to my Brick vote pretty much confirmed it. (Although I was going to lynch scooter in any case. Part of the reason I ran the test was to disguise the fact that I knew Zakalwe was innocent.)

The idea behind my roleplaying, btw, was that the assassin might shoot me just because he couldn't stand the idea of losing to a king who'd repeatedly declared that he was in fact the king. lol

Maybe add in a mayor mechanic for tiebreakers? "Commodore for Guard Captain"
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

yeah, I liked your roleplay - although that works on guards, too. There was a part of me that wanted to lynch you because I didn't want to lose to an assassin who repeatedly declared he was the king wink.

I was about 40/40/20, with Scooter being the 20, up until he joined me on Zak. I'd bet thats when Brick figured it out too. So good job to you and Zak figuring it out before us =).

Scooter, why couldn't I have been the king? The dogpiles on me were all in the first half of the day, never near the deadline.

Regardless, I probably should have been lynched on day 2, not sure how I got off that hook. But I wanted to play so I wasn't complaining lol

What about my reaction "confirmed" it to you btw? Just curious. My answer was dead serious, I was waiting to flip to Brick, but I had planned to do so. When you jumped on Zak, I suspected this was because you were trying to figure out if I was a guard smoking out the assassin or if I was an assassin who accidentally snagged onto the king.

This was a funny side-show, but it actually had little impact on me. You pretending to be king is something you would happily do as a guard, king, or assassin, so I just tried to rule that out as evidence either way. Though I actually heavily suspected you as king before the "you all know it's me" post, which made me laugh.

Lots of things. First your style, but who knows on that. The main thing is you were frequently suspected and nobody seemed to view that as significant. Nobody ever latched onto an attack on you as suspicious or anything. Nobody ever danced around you or anything - that happened frequently for uberfish and Zak where they would write something and everyone would freeze up and not post or reply to it. People were very delicate with things pertaining to Uberfish and Zak, but that was never the case with you. Basically, today you were not even on my radar as a possible king. Brick wasn't either really until the end when I briefly thought I had read it all wrong, then I just defaulted to picking uberfish.

yeah we were def a little sloppy. I would have liked to have more possible kings than uberfish and zak, but I agree that it was unlikely to be me or Brick. oh well, happy to win the coinflip then smile.

FWIW, your post screwed me up so bad that at the end I was leaning more to Brick than Zak. That was not the case until the last 30-40 minutes.
