Ah, well.
Back from an unexpected business trip, finding gf and baby ill.
Plus I cannot find my notes on the opening strategy.
And I am also 4 days late, so no detailed report (like you ever get one from me these days ...
)
Ok, so I settled Aksum in place, but could not decide to found another city in the land revealed.
I therefore bought two more settlers, one pop point for Aksum and two workers. The reasoning was, that with Hunting and Mining, two good tiles, the elephants and the gold could be worked, and improved straight away.
I hoped that this would give me a godd jump start on the growth curve.
I believe I spent the rest on tile line of sight to get an idea where to send my settlers.
Founded 8 additional cities up to 10AD.
Then Monty declares war and in 1100AD he becomes my vassal.
This is celebrated by a Golden Age, which sees a switch to Nationalism and a Rifle army drafted together with Cavalry units and sent towards the Indian border , where hostilities begin in 1295AD.
India is destroyed in 1390AD.
The veteran units keep on going through Russia, which is vassaled (a few islands remaining) in 1485AD (?) just before the 1500AD makr. Unfortunately not all cities make it out of rebeliion in time.
NOw to finish the game off, I decide to go for the Holy Empire.
A concerted amphibious attack is carried out and the CIV is wiped out in 1555AD.
Two turns later as enough cities come out of rebellion, domination is triggered.
