"The lights are going out....

....we shall not see them lit again in our lifetimes"

So let's go out with a bang, not a whimper!

KoP, Shadow, cb, AncientCrone, and Bede all have characters at the Brink of Hell in Nightmare Elite, or near enough. Let's get them all together and make a final assault: "To the Hellgate".

One last rush through the streets, sewers and and abandoned buildings of Hellgate: London before the lights go out.

WiserCrone and SniperBede are working their way through the labyrinth of the Necropolis this weekend (Saturday starting at Noon EDT, Sunday after 9:30PM EDT) in the hope, perhaps vain, that they can finish the game before the servers wind down.

Please join in if you can!

I would love to have the fine company of my RB friends to complete the journey through the game.

My schedule is more than a bit unpredictable of late, but I can try to be online for a group foray on Monday night from about 8:00 p.m. eastern time. (Since we are softcore, fatigue errors are not the concern that they were for playing the D2 group games. And this Monday, my two young'uns are visiting their aunt, so they won't be short-shrifted by me taking game time.)

WiserCrone and SniperBede with the help of LDk (a Guardian buddy) made it through the Necropolis last night, after wiping out at least a dozen packs of Zombie Summoners and their spawn; Sniper had to deviate from his "Shooter-only" mode and equip a weapon with Napalm Strike to get through it.

Tonight's episode will begin about 9:00PM EDT with runs through the Liverpool Tunnels and other Liverpool St Station side forays to set us up for the Tests.

Depending on my schedule for Monday I will be available all day and into the night, or will have a start time about 9:00PM.

Shooting up the tunnels and dungeons for the living!

I'll be there both today and Monday. My evoker is 49 1/2, and I've never had a lvl 50 character before. This ought to do it, huh? wink

I'm looking forward to all the fun with some great folks!!! thumbsup

Crone (WiserCrone now lvl50r5) and Bede with the help of Shadow's ForWarper and LDk finished the tests and hitchhiked to St Paul's Station (thank you 'Warper and LDk).

So the stage is set and ready for the curtain to go up on the Cathedral and the Hellgate!

The party continues tomorrow Tuesday (7/22/08) at 8:00PM EDT 'tho the final assault may have to wait for a larger block of time. Perhaps later in the week.

Due to a bout of insomnia this morning, I had the time to work through some more of ForWarper's quests. He is finally finished with the trash-talking Spud. (No wonder he needs money for booze and prostitutes: With that voice, it would take both money and booze to convince anyone to spend time in his company. [Image: rolleye.gif] )

The quest called "Bad Customers" was particularly brutal. Paternoster Row was infested with Rift Spirits (sp? - cousins of the Pestilent Spirits). It took at least ten tries to kill the required number of Dervishes before dying to one of the Rift Spirits. They were able to one-hit kill ForWarper with ease. [Image: cry.gif] (Yes, I am stubborn. Yes, I was angry with myself. And NO, I was NOT going to re-set the instance. [Image: lol.gif] )

A couple of tips:

1) The non-functioning PRD's can be cured by stepping briefly into another area (any other area) from the station and then back out again. Then, it seems, you can take your PRD. (Thanks to cb-13 for that one.) [Image: smile.gif]

2) The last quest from Broker at Mark Lane Station (which is also in Paternoster Row) can be done faster by (ab)using the /stuck command. Enter Liverpool Approach from Liverpool Station, and then type /stuck. This will teleport you to the entrance to Mark Lane Station, so you have a shorter distance to fight your way through to collect the quest and then to collect your legendary item reward (if you, like me, were not able to leave a PRD there for the return trip).

ForWarper has now completed all quests except The Hellgate. He would like to get one more Rank point before going for Sydonai, if only to get the final boost to resist all and hence (maybe) be less likely to die while undertaking the quest.

'Crone and Sniper carried on with cleaning up the St Paul approach quest tho the Shadow Husks were more than a nuisance.

ForWarper joined us for a bit of leveling in Necro Fall (Sniper had opened the door sometime ago to have a handy place for leveling). We said "howdy" to Moloch because we could then broke of the engagement and went on to clear the Fall. LDk was along for most of that.

The Assault on the Hellgate is postponed for now - awaiting the arrival of Amn_Ralthul and GungaDan.

'Crone and Sniper carried on by trying for the Slaughterbeast in Cheapside.

We never got past the door!

Level59 Zombies guarded by Tormentors are a force to be reckoned with. While you are knocking the zombies down (supported by three summoners at last count) the Tormentors come up behind you and one-touch you to death after the Pestilent Spirits warp through you and steal all your health. Arrgh!

So we pulled back to St Paul Station and are thinking and rethinking our next move. Perhaps back to Stonehenge in search of armor pieces with a lot more Defense against All stats, as well as +TAV.

It's not that we can't kill them, we just can't kill them fast enough before their buddies come along and kill us first.

At any rate the trip to Cheapside does not bode well for the run to Hell [Image: rolleye.gif]
