Anyone around here that plays chess, either in local leagues, or over the internet?

would be fun to play against someone from here smile

I have a bullet/blitz ELO of ~1650 (it swings between high 1500's to low 1700's

a standard 2h rating of ~1400

since beginning in 1995 (just after Internet Chess Club made the controversial decision to go as a paid-membership service), ive played approximately 27000 rated games online (most of these in the first 5 years). Actually found about about the service while in the World Trade Center on September 11 of that year (Kasparov vs. Anand WC kicked off that day).

Sounds like my strength is about yours Sian - blitz 1500-1600, im rated about 1400 in the USCF. Actually 1389 i think - i remember I was saving my rating for a big tournament where i could play u1400 and get some cash. The world open is only 40 miles or so from my house, so every year i think i should study up and play it.

Sian or waterbat, I haven't played regularly in forever but I never really lost interest in the game. (Still watching Kingcrusher's channel on YouTube quite regularly; I just don't play that much.) So if anybody wants to do a correspondence game, that would be fun!

I have a 1600 blitz and 1760 standard rating on playchess.com, but at the moment I rather like watching instructional DVDs than playing.

I recommend talking a look at Daniel King's youtube channel, especially his interactive "What happen's next" series is quite popular (though sometimes difficult for someone of my playing strength wink ):

I like Chess, I'm pretty bad though. I think I'm only like a 1200?

I look forward to being slaughtered smile
You want to have a thread up here with the move-by-move of the game? Or just do a recap at the end?

pff ... somehow it would be interesting to read at the end if people got to lurk and suggest half-baked ideas as of why one do what and what the other should or comment why move 13 is crap as hell etc ... but then again it'll might feel a bit thin just posting a move every now and again ...

Lets do it and then we can see how it goes ... how about setting two games on, each playing each side once

I'd be interested in playing some as well, haven't played for a few years, but I was a solid player.

If you at least post moves or board status I'll be reading it. smile
