I am interested in how you ran the script when it took a day. In case there is some optimization I could make for that use case.

IIRC, I simply used the population numbers for T64 or so. You can probably substitute the current ones, ie 1616 thousand in population and 39 cities.

Remember that the worst cases of the making change problem is NP-complete - so any brute force solution is going to run into problem.

Making change is not fortunately NP-complete. It uses dynamic programming and is polynomial. I am running your example now. I can make some optimization to keep less stuff in memory because that's a problem. Let me see first if I can get any results first.

Anyway, it is the diff version that's really needed, so I have no real need of that tool. But it might make for a fun CS exercise - but please not here smile

Ok, I won't bother with this then.

No bother, and thank you again for your help!

In actual ISDG news, Univers logged in again after they had ended turn with another turnplayer, and did a one-pop whip of their size 2 city. Doesn't speak well for the team organisation there.

(I could swear I had reported on this already, but now I can't find it anywhere.)

They also did a 1-pop-whip this turn, by another player after they had first ended turn. Does not speak well of their team organisation.

The Germans were the second team to six cities this turn (and they still didn't end their turn - and that MO seems to have spread to the other teams as well banghead ).

The city of Wien upped their land area with 2 tiles, so it's quite possibly coastal. OTOH, they already have one coastal city in Wismar, and the rest of the northern shore on their water has been claimed by WPC, so it also might be a filler city.

We dropped from #4 to #5 in food output with this, so the Germans passed us with the same number of pop. OTOH, with more cities they get 12F free compared to 8F free for us, so our productivity per tile might be higher.

Anyway, good thing for us that we plan to settle two new cities over the next three turns.

Very late Demos after the Germans whipped twice right at the end of turn:

I sat in-game with the German player for 20 minutes, waiting for him to end turn. Finally I typed "so are you going to end turn, or do I have to wait another hour?" No response to that.

Seriously, screw these guys. rant
