Hey, I'm not THAT old.
Jagged Alliance was hella fun. Sadly, I don't think any of its successors carried forward the same magic in the same way. I adored JA2 but I didnt finish it. It just got too hard about 40% of the way through.
...
Anybody notice anything else about me?
Like... lack of... post length?
Hey it's me anyway. Honest.

I hope D3 is good enough not to need Variants for five or six months. I know that's blasphemy to some of my old friends, but variants were always there to extend the life of a good game. If the game is more extended in the first place, you don't need to bring the variants along until later.
At least this remains my theory.
As for the Pit Viper Temple... You get that many green-clad girls together in one spot and you know there's gonna be a party. I just wished I coulda worn purple that night. (Did anyone ever tell Cy to take that Needler off his head? That AIN'T what was meant when the party invitation suggested coming with a bow in your hair.)

Ten years old oh my. No gaming time oh my.
I do remember your note about the job change, though. I'm so glad you got out from under that situation that pained you so much for so long. And it sounds like your perseverance may pay off in the opportunities you'll have at the new school. Challenging stuff, but hey it's what you been dreaming of.
I tried to reply to every single one who posted. If I missed anyone, I'm sorry.
Thanks for all the warm wishes, hellos, and so forth. I promise not to be a stranger.

My MOO1 site is the only one left that I'm still getting fresh fan mail from. I think it's because of wikipedia. I guess good MOO1 sites are so rare, and mine somehow got attention there, that there are still actually fresh new people being directed to it. Or something like that.
Anyway, nice to meet you. Maybe some day we'll get a successor worthy of being compared to MOO1. It's been fifteen years now, but I still do hope.
- Bob Personally I've found Sword of the Stars to be a pretty good spiritual successor to the game. It's deceptively simple at the strategic level to play, yet there's enough depth and replayability there that it doesn't get boring quickly. And the tactical battles are far better than anything you'd get out of any other 4X game like Civ or GalCiv. The game has come a long way since release, too -- Kerberos been very diligent about updates and maintain a very open relationship with their fan community.
They've recently released a collector's edition and a new demo based on the current codebase, and are about to release the second expansion pack, so it's a good time to check the game out if you haven't recently.

Happy belated birthday!
Even though I don't play Civ any more, your CIV page is still bookmarked on my pc. That's what introduced me to RB, that's what will bring back some interest in that game again, maybe.
If not, there's always Diablo 3.

If I know anything about our patriarch's social style, it's that when a post like that inspires a hunch, it's usually correct.
I'd been hesitant to buy into the D3 hype, thinking to give it a pass as with Hellgate, but now I'm not so sure...

Thanks for the recommendation! I'll look in to it. (Not sure how soon, though.)

As if I need to rack up post count. ... Wait. I only have 1700 posts now?? Oh yeah, since we moved to the new board. Hmm. ... *feels the need to get that back up to five digits where it should be*
Yeah, sure. Why not. And this one counts as plus one.
As for signing my name... Too lazy to remember when to sign which name or nickname any more. Hey I'm gettin older, I need to simplify.
