Well that's placed directly between us. I swear this whole setup just smells rigged.

Well we definitely have better access to that stone from the map layout. There's no excuse for us being unable to claim it.

Oh and we should make sure to maximize commerce until we're done with the religion run (at least to the point that the number of turns to Meditation is minimized).

Actually we can do something like NE of the crabs. Keep in mind that we don't need to directly claim the stone, we just need to block Commodore from claiming it. We can get it at our leisure with third ring borders (unless you want to go for the Pyramids ).
Planting like that might invite harassment in the salt lake with a galley though, we'd have to build a fort and bring our own ships from elsewhere to defend. Although planting on that PH 2W of the scout to harass us would be pretty dumb. In fact it might be less dumb to plant on the desert hill and to try to claim the stone that way (in response to a city NE of the crab)...the desert hill location can't be farmed until CS though.

Ok some stuff to discuss. First, scout update:
Sucks that the lion is there, but I'm glad we've on a plains forest hill. Should win that, so just hoping for minimal healing time. Meditation research begun. Anyways, let's talk city3. I see three spots. I like this one best:
I like that it doesn't need a border pop to be really useful. Fish is right there without a pop (and we get the FIN bonus working fish so that's beneficial), and the capital's borders will have expanded to cover the copper by then. This means hooking copper sooner will be beneficial, and it gives us military options against Commodore should he pink dot us. It's also a great Moai site. The only real downside here is the total lack of first ring forests. Option B:
You could place this on the hill instead. That corn is not irrigated, so it's inherently weaker than the fish (5/0/3 vs 5/0/0, then 6/0/3 after lighthouse), but it does share the pigs. It does have forests, though they are forests in the capital's BFC so they do come with the opportunity cost of not using them in the capital. Which is fine. Finally, the aggressive option:
I don't like this as City3. If we're going to do this, better back it up with copper units. Finally, one thing we need to decide:
What to do with these workers. I say chop away.

I definitely want to plant near the stone ASAP. I agree that we definitely need copper for that. So either we connect it through third ring or through a city, whichever setup leads to a faster stone-claiming or stone-blocking city.

It's turn 46...surely we can start roading to the copper now (one worker 2NE onto the forest this turn) and mine it right after the border pop and get going on the stone city?

I think i need to put some of my simming energy into this and less into going over and over pbem45.
if we're going to go for the stone next then we definitely want to start roading towards that copper. If we want to do either other spot we may want to just chop.
Has Stonehenge fallen? Thatd be a great city to chop it in at...
