"You have been struck down." - Dwarf Fortress Adventure stories

The problem is that Bigger is now extremely unhappy, as Ichabod was a friend. In fact Ichabod, arriving early in this fortress' history was considered a friend by many. I will have to watch the mood closely as news of his fate spreads.

nah it'd be more fun to just let him do what he wants and punch Novice in the third toe, left foot or something

Do we name them after members, even if they have not volunteered yet?
Or are there still unassigned volunteers? Need to check the thread again.

I think we check the list of whomever posted in the thread, use them, then use people who posted in this forum, then the rest of the community?

and just treat the official signups better (well... by DF standards)

And add me to the list?

I was positive that my dwarf would make a beautiful artifact to crown my most sucessfull turnset, with most objectives accomplished and no dwarves lost. It made it obvious to everyone that I'm a DF noob. Id I knew what I was messing with, I wouldn't be optimistic. There's nothing like your avatar dwarf slaying half a fortress and having your pet cats eat your corpse and then be sacrificed for food to teach a guy a lesson. I know better now. I know that I shouldn't be optimistic about this game. Tragedy is always around the corner. just waiting for your pickaxe to break the last couple of blocks until some firey, watery, magmay or berserkery death.

Heh, don't feel too bad. DF, as you've noticed, is a very, very complex system. I still have several areas I'm completely at a loss of how to do (like training and using siege weaponry properly).

But hey, you just keep trying and discovering as you go. That's half the fun. Setting up a crazy system and watching as the stories unfold.

Cyneheard, you are one of the initial 7, by now a great carpenter!

I have gone through this thread and have assigned the following dwarves:

I took all the people who posted in this thread and filled up with people from the old DF fortress SG.
It's a screenshot from Dwarf Therapist. It shows your name, gender, skills (the size of the black/white dots) and what jobs are your responsibility (the blue marked boxes.)
This is by no means final. I will refine the jobs a bit more. For example legendary dwarves (so far only Pling) and specialists crucial to the jobs currently queued up (carpenters for example) are freed from hauling.
I normally have at least two dwarves assigned to any profession.

I ordered up a long list of things to build and manufacture.
As well as telling dwarves to collect the spent bolts, gather some shrubs and chop down some trees.
Everybody is really busy. Then the dwarven caravan arrives.
