[spoilers] Commodore: Worse than Toku, it's Giggles of Siam!

Yep! Or at least War Elephants do; I assume BE do too. In any case, with Team Impi over there I don't want to rely on just archers and chariots if we opt for not coppering.

Elephants (and Ballista Mammoths wink ) require HBR.

Commodore,

If they've gone north, then we're good to go with the double pink dot so long as we back them up with Pro Archers (and some walls soon)

But I think we may want HBR for at least one stables before Construction. Medic 1 and Sentry 1 out of the box Chariots are dead cheap support units. Plus HA. wink

What is this piffle about chilly toes. Did Lord Cardigan think of such matters? Or Napoleon stop for wooly socks before crossing the Neman. Onwards.

Well, if The People speak, I have no choice. But I'm going to accelerate getting some real units in the field.

Also, the workers are forward now. The die is cast, and also: We has roads!

That's a lovely incoming settler we have, let's pink dot this crap.

Let's hope they didn't spot the south copper and settled north for Horses. wink

In the meantime,

let's risk it all on one turn of pitch and toss. hammer

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!";

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Always nice to bring out the Kipling, Thoth.

From The Eleven Nations: A History of the World

Sometime around 1700 BC, the first chariots of the Genericans are recorded in sculptures and paintings. The almost mythical King Thoth's eponymous Company set out on their sweep of conquest east of the two cities. They were ostensibly to suppress the barbarian tribes to the east beyond the mountains, but it is highly probable even then that Thoth's Company was a show of force also designed to pressure the Zulu claims near the Gold Hills in the far reaches. Certainly a chariot army known as Thoth's Company fought in the east centuries later in the First Campaign of McDonald's.

The chariots of the early Genericans were unwieldy, dangerously swift contraptions manned by a driver, bows, and spearmen. Although they were almost useless in hills or woodland, in the flat plains between the two cities and beyond these early chariots were peerless.

It is speculated by modern archaeologists that the Genericans were indeed the first to field chariots in history. They were an impressive force in the early dawn of history, a terror to barbarian warriors and civilized axe regiments both. Backed by the protective archers of Generica, these vehicles formed the backbone of the earliest armies of the empire.

You know it, brother. It's a little bass-ackwards, but here's the first settle to come out of Tranquil...
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0324.JPG]

And it's being followed with an archer. Whew boy.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0321.JPG]

I considered following with another chariot, but I think an archer might be best. The plan for TM right now is to build the second archer, swap to a worker for one turn, turn back to granary to receive a chop and grow to the unhappy size 5, then 2-pop whip a much needed fourth worker (Grit). Then while the whip anger fades its either worker or settler.
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0322.JPG]

Overall, demos are finally reflecting my slow third city; they'll still lag until I can get gold/salt lake crabs/sheep/copper online. Power is worrisome too...
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0325.JPG]

Scooter whipped something, either chariot or impi or axe, I'm going to bet not an axe. So I'm going to go a little cautious towards McDonalds, covering my chariot with the woodie warrior (enough to hurt an impi badly).
[Image: Civ4ScreenShot0323.JPG]

This is a one-turn delay on moving to threaten McDonalds, which sucks. But, you can see here there is method to the madness. With my chariot in range to strike McD's, he's forked if he heads to hit Pink Dot 1.
