no. but TGL city moved to #3 in top 5 cities, dropping gilgamesh to #4. did we decide nakor built TGL? so that team probably has #1 GNP as well (they are FIN, SPI, so that makes sense).
no matter. when we repair and can start working all our cottages we will get both trophies back.

Only fair, since Bigger keeps big upping your GNP ignoring that like a full quarter of it is Henge/Henge-monuments.
yes I know this. we have religion too. we also have several cottages we have been unable to work due to the war, and I expect that to change before too long.

ok so we can narrow it down. demos 15 mins or so after the turn rolled, we are back to #1:
Plako, spacetyrantxenu, and slowcheetah are the only ones that have played their turn.
according to civ stats, xenu is the only one that has whipped. so that is my best guess, the whip took him off a coast or something. it could be also that plako overruled the governor, taking off a commerce tile to a hammer tile for his war. or anyone of them could have gone to max tax for binary research (plako makes the most sense here, since he just discovered a tech).
anyway I logged out. Since we are at peace now we don't have to wait for azza to play, so feel free whenever you're ready Lewwyn.

I'm gonna grab it in the morning. Wife is asleep and I can't get out of bed or I'll wake her.

I renamed it to Beowulf. Seems somewhat appropriate (although if anyone knows of an epic where an important city was conquered from another.. other than the Iliad, that we've already used)..
I know one about the stealing of a cow, it's basically the same thing.
And great work on the war, pegging back Azza a bit and getting iron is a nice result. Now you just have to push on.

Which one is that Brian? I can name the cow/wine city Beowulf, and the silver city the Aenid.

Given the hand you got dealt I think that this is the best possible outcome - congratulations on an expertly run war! Did it all go to plan or were there any mistakes? (Best way to learn etc)
Are we sure that's Azza's only source of Iron? Serdoa hasn't expanded quickly and if he suddenly comes with a bunch of Praets we're in trouble. I'd suggest sending a chariot or two to scout around his borders (if they can get past) and see what potential resources he has.
It's also possible that someone will gift or trade him iron. I don't know what to suggest for that eventuality...

yes, I'm quite happy with the results of the war. Giddy, in fact.
There were indeed some mistakes. the first 2 chariots we lost could have been prevented. lewwyn moved in (one to the forest near Azza's capital, the other to pillage the pigs). One of those chariots was promoted, but injured and could have been critical. In hindsight we should have retreatd both of them when azza did his triple whip.
I'm also not certain we should have razed billy talent. it was a crap city and did nothing but drain azza's economy, and if we get to the point we can settle that area we will likely be strong enough to take it out anyway. but it looks like the barb warriors would ahve razed it anyway (azza abandoned it) so its just as well we got the capture gold this way.
as for Iron, yes that is a fear. i agree about a chariot circling around, he should be able to explore pretty far south of the territorry. especially if we get writing before too long (open borders). lewwyn please bring Achilleus 3 south (to the right of the lake, where there is a land path that azza currently doesnt have culture in) and try to find serdoa's land, and any other civs down there.
Right now though, azza doesnt have iron. if he does we would have seen praets. by the time he does we will at least have axemen, and probably protective archers as well. praets are only strength 7 in this mod, so axes attacking out (not letting the praets invade the city) can do quite well, and protective archers + axemen (the axemen will keep him from giving city raider promotions) should do ok.

Do you actually need iron yourself (pre-knights)?
Or is it more denial?
I don't think praets have any bonus against cities...

praets are swordsmen, so they should have the +10 to city attack bonus, right?. plus they are 7 strength, which makes them really scary if all we have are chariots and warriors (even if we have archers).
we desperately need iron. Not for swordsmen, but for axemen and spears - we don't have copper!
Denying it from Azza is just a bonus .
