Nice game and report ... and I thought I would be special by selecting a GE and settling him.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Quote:1615AD: I got a resolution for religious victory. It was very obvious at that point I would win, as I was the only eligable candidate and I had way more than two-thirds of the votes myself. If I do, I would win by 1620AD with a religious victory.

In the latest patch for BTS, this can't happen. The vote choice for diplomatic victory (both types) isn't available if you control enough votes to win all by yourself. So you were probably a bit short of actually entirely voting yourself in. Remember the AP victory needs 75% of the votes, not 66⅔% like the UN victory.

And if you didn't actually take the AP victory, then the books shall show the UN diplomatic victory.

Sounds like your game was well played. Good call on the Nationhood civic for no upkeep. There often is a window of time when Bureaucracy is past ripe but your towns aren't yet grown for Free Speech, so Nationhood can indeed be the most profitable Legal civic.

Cool, I'd prefer to book the UN victory too.

But yes, the reason why I was mistaken was because when I reloaded the 1600AD save afterwards and played to choose diplomatic victory a few turns later, I did win it. However, what I didn't notice was that the Russians supported me.

A settled GE, yeah that´s what I did as well.
